Hop on Two Fort for a bit because there may be a new Team Fortress game being made!
Valve has stayed committed to supporting Team Fortress 2 since release with upcoming updates.
But recent Source updates point to a new TF project in the works right now!
New Team Fortress Being Made
Noticed by X account Gabe-follower, a project code-named TF appears in the code. This code was used to port assets from source 1 to source 2. A resource compiler is also a toolset used for level editing. However, a string mentioning projects from TF was included in a recent update to CS2!
This points to it being game-specific, meaning a new Team Fortress game! Although it’s not airtight, this was the same process with Half-Life: Alyx, code-named HLVR.
But it can be something unrelated to Team Fortress with a title like ‘TF’, meaning anything. However, the obvious thing would be a Team Fortress-related title still in early development.

Again, not definitive proof of a new Team Fortress game, but it’s pretty suspect. Also, it aligns with development time windows of Valve’s past projects. Not to mention the team over at TF2 have been super busy with recent and upcoming updates to the game.
With the recent and upcoming focus, it also points to the team gearing up for something big later down the line. There was the recent community map pool and upcoming ManVsMachine update, just to mention a few examples.

However, the source code engine changes really point towards the game being in a fair way of development. As the changes have been made to the engine as a whole regarding decals, it seems that whatever the project is, Valve are pretty committed.
Although not only this, but recent Deadlock changes and events have also pointed to a new game being made.
Deadlocked Out Of The Intel Room
When Deadlocked was rumored to be in development, it was a roller coaster of conspiracy. But that turned out all to be true. We even have the early, early builds of Deadlock that make it look like a Gmod-tier game mode.

However strange it looked young into its cycle, this was the current pattern we saw before us. Deadlock started a private playlist in 2024 and leaked due to random access players.Valve let everybody onto the boat before it was finished, and it’s still kept that way.

So if this really is a new Team Fortress game, we may see a similar approach to it. Deadlock has enjoyed pretty stellar success for being a totally unfinished game. So much so to the point that it outshines even more notorious titles.
I’m just saying hypothetically we could see an Alpha test Heavy and Scout running about online. Perhaps even a similar invite-only basis that just spirals out of control.
However, with the staying power of TF, it might not even be needed in the first place. Many fans and gamers still prefer booting up 2Fort over other class-based shooters.

If all this evidence were to be true, which in all likelihood, yes, then that would be amazing.
