As Summer Games Fest 2023 kicks off, fans are ecstatic to see the latest Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay Showcase!
The trailer, now posted online, showed off a staggering amount of detail.
Let’s jump into the ring and finish off the details!
Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay Showcase Shows off Tag Team
One of the newest and most exciting bits of info shown during the trailer is the reveal of Tag!
Akin to Marvel Vs Capcom, Mortal Kombat 1 now boasts a similar 2 on 2 character Tag mechanic.
From the trailer, it is clear that the tag system will include mid-battle assists as well as the ability to swap characters mid-fight. Some impressive technical moves are included, as well as what looks like a block swap cancel and interruptable assists.
By far the most exciting aspect of this was the x-ray abilities, which show that not only can tag assists perform them, but they can also lead to unique x-ray cinematics that change depending on the team!
Whether all characters have unique cinematics with each other is still up in the air, but from the showcase, certain mixups such as Sub Zero and Kenshi showcase some amazingly creative beatdowns!
The Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay Showcase was filled with multiple unique team-ups, showing off some impressive creativity with the pair-ups.
We are waiting to see what Neather Realms has in mind for the Scorpion and Homelander Tag Team!

NeatherRealm promises to announce even more characters while we wait for the release.
Although so far, we have only seen legacy characters and those introduced in recent titles, we should not be surprised by a few new original characters introduced for Mortal Kombat 1.
Since MK11 launched with around 20 non-DLC roster characters at launch, we should expect around the same for Mortal Kombat 1.
On the official NetherRealm website, it showcases Shang Tsung as a pre-order exclusive currently, along with the online Beta access giving players an early taste of the mechanics.
The Logitech G502 X line features a new way to game with its innovative hybrid switches for speed, precision, and lightweight.
Mortal Kombat 1 Story Reboot
NetherRealm have decided to reboot the Mortal Kombat story, not following the plotline of past MKX and MK11.
The Mortal Kombat 1 Gameplay Showcase details a more personable storyline, revealing much younger variants of characters such as Sub Zero and Scorpion supposedly meeting for the first time.
Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on September 19th this year on PS5, Xbox X/S, PC, and even Switch!
