With the release of 1.20 comes the new feature of Minecraft Armor Trims!
These add a little bit of pazaz to the players armor, offering unique styles and looks.
But let’s take a look at how to get them and what exactly the new trims are.
Minecraft Armor Trims: What Are They
Mojang has decided to breathe new life into Minecraft with the new armor trim mechanic. With the use of smithing templates, players can change the look of their armor sets. However, this is a cosmetic change and does not affect the stats of the armor.

Smithing templates can be found in various structures, such as sunk ships, trail ruins, nether fortresses, and so on. But they can be duplicated by using seven diamonds and a block based on what the template is.

To create an armor trim, simply make a smithing table and place the desired armor piece, armor trim, and ingot in the crafting blocks. You can see the output of the armor trim before making it. Be careful not to make it without checking first, as you spend the armor trim and cannot reuse it.
Already-trimmed armor can be trimmed again by applying another template to it; the old trim pattern is overwritten in the process. Therefore, one piece of armor cannot possess multiple trims at the same time.

But for those wanting to test out their style before hoping in, check out the Minecraft Trim Generator. This website allows you to customize a player model and view it with your in-game skin!
Where to Find Minecraft Armor Trims
Smithing templates can be found in various structures. Also, they can be duplicated by using seven diamonds and a block based on what the template is.
The known structures so far are: trail ruins, shipwrecks, End City, Pillager Outpost, Desert Temple, Woodland Mansion, Never Fortress, and Strongholds.

But the best places to look for armor trims would be Strongholds and Bastion Remnants. When a chest spawns here currently, there is a 100% chance of finding an armor trim. In other places, the chances are a bit low, ranging from 20% all the way down to 8.33%. Right now, we cannot trade villagers for a trim, but hopefully Mojang will add that feature.
