Kept you waiting for the new Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta Ape Escape mode, huh?
Konami dropped the release date as well as some well-missed monkey business.
But what exactly are these apes, and are they also involved with the Patriots in some way?
Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Delta Ape Escape Mode
Firstly, the release date is August 28th for those wondering.
Secondly, and more importantly, there will be a Delta Ape Escape mode on release. But the monkeys, monkeys have changed. Because they have a new look given the updated engine and possibly even some gameplay tweaks since the original mode.

See the new Delta Ape Escape mode or Snake Vs. Monkey that was released on the original. Back in 2004, the PS2 title had the extra mode letting us hunt down those sneaky apes. Also, it also helped players as they could unlock camo and equipment for the main game mode.

But when it came to the HD release, there was a severe lack of Snake vs. Monkey. This was because there was an Xbox release, and Sony did not want their precious apes on there.
And in 2012, not only was it lacking from the HD collection but from the 3DS port as well. Also, yeah, there was a 3DS version of Metal Gear Solid 3. It lacked both frame rate and the Delta Ape Escape mode. However, it did have crouch walking and Peace Walker controls.
Now we do not know how much has changed since the shift from the OG release to this new one in August. If I were a betting man, I would say that it would include all of the stages from past versions, being Europe and subsistence.
However, whether or not it will hold exactly the same gameplay is up in the air. The team behind this remake has assured they are trying to emulate it as closely as possible.

But why is this new MGS Delta Ape Escape mode important, you ask? Well, to put it bluntly, the Ape Escape franchise is in dire need of a revival pill.

Ape Escape, the franchise, is one of the most fun things out there, and it is tragic that Sony has left this IP, as well as many others, dying of dust intake on the shelves.
Also, the last time they made an appearance was in Astro Bot in 2024. So yeah, not exactly their time in the sun right now. But with this new Delta Ape Escape mode on the horizon, maybe franchise interest will creep up on Sony.
Just maybe, they will realize fun games like this and Astro Bot are what the market has and will always crave and whip up a reboot, remake, or better yet, just a straight-up sequel.
Also, the Snake Vs Monkey mode was fun when I played it on both versions multiple times. As someoned who owns a copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 on 3DS I have the God given authority to speak on its behalf!

This game mode is fun, and if the dev team went out of their way to even include this little extra that shows just a little bit of soul and effort is going into this remake product.
But now we need that one hack-and-slash nightmare included, and we are golden.
