Metamask is a Web3 wallet that keeps your data and crypto safe and sound.
There are other wallets, but MetaMask is one of the most widely known and used. In addition, it is probably one of the most trusted wallets out there. However, as with anything in life, make sure you protect all your information and keep your passwords secured safely.
At first, the interface might look somewhat confusing to many. This guide will focus on setting up the MetaMask wallet for Web3 Gaming.
Initial Steps: MetaMask for Web3 Gaming
First, you need to go to this link and download the wallet. Then you will see it come up as an extension to your browser.
After downloading, you need to create a wallet which is relatively simple to do. After you press the “create a wallet” icon, you will be asked to put a password in. That password is important for everything you do with MetaMask so don’t forget it.
You will then see your “seed phrase, ” which is a combination of random words. This part is crucial because if you lose your seed phrase, you cannot get your wallet back.
If you lose your seed phrase, all the money you have in your wallet will be gone. So please make sure that you keep it safe. It’s best to write down your seed phrase and keep it offline if you can.
How to setup different blockchains on MetaMask
Now that your wallet is ready to go, you will need to know a little about blockchains. In Web3 applications, everything operates on a blockchain. There are many blockchains available now and lots of Web3 games are built on those blockchains.
One of the most widely used and popular blockchains is the Ethereum blockchain. This is the blockchain that MetaMast uses for its functionality. Essentially, this means that MetaMask can store keys for Ethereum cryptocurrencies only.
To be able to play the game and earn money from it, you need to set up your MetaMask for Web3 Gaming.

A Web3 Game Example: Thetan Arena
Let’s work on an example. Thetan Arena is a game that is built on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). Fortunately, the Binance smart chain is compatible with Ethereum. Therefore, the features and functions of the Binance smart chain are similar to that of Ethereum
If you don’t add this network to your Metamask, you can’t earn anything on this chain.

In this screenshot, looking at the top right corner, you can see that when you install MetaMask, its network is Ethereum Mainnet. If we want to play Thetan Arena, a game on BSC, we need to change it to BSC Network.
To do that: Click on Ethereum Mainnet and click Add Network

Then Click on “Add Network Manually,” and you can add the information to the chain you want to add to your MetaMask.

There is an easier way to add BSC as well. You can go to this link, scroll all the way down, and find “Add BSC Network.”

You click on it and accept the notifications coming from MetaMask. And, voila, your wallet is setup as simply as that.
For the last notification, you will have to press Switch, and it will switch to BSC. Just like that, you have your MetaMask wallet set for the games on Ethereum Chain and BNB Binance SmartChain.
You are now ready to use MetaMask for Web3 Gaming. Just don’t forget to switch chains when you are trying to send money to another chain.
