There is a new addition to the four major Championship Ring awards for winning a major. The sports world’s most famous rings are the Major League Baseball’s (MLB) World Series ring, the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Championship ring, National Football League (NFL) Super Bowl ring, and the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Stanley Cup ring. Now, into the mix, comes roaring in the new League of Legends Championship Ring developed by Mercedes Benz
The winners of the League of Legends World Championship 2021 in Reykjavík, Iceland, will not only lift the Summoner’s Cup, but also a Championship Ring exclusively created for each team member. The ring is the result of a joint design process between Mercedes-Benz and Riot Games – a symbol of the greatest achievement in League of Legends Esports. The ring represents the incredible journey of the winning team and remains with the pro players.

Mercedes-Benz has been the exclusive automotive partner of all global League of Legends Esports events since 2020 and excels with creative campaigns and ideas that puts League of Legends fans first. The Championship Ring is the most recent idea: made of high-quality materials such as white gold and sapphire glass, it is the result of many hours of detailed craftsmanship. On a visual level, the Championship Ring combines the unmistakable design of Mercedes-EQ vehicles with League of Legends Esports. In addition to the star pattern that adorns the ring on the sides of the white gold setting, the Worlds emblem shimmers through the blue sapphire glass on the top.

“Championship rings are a storied tradition in sports, synonymous with the highest achievements and unmatched excellence. Since the start of our partnership in 2020, Mercedes-Benz has helped elevate and celebrate the best of the best in LoL Esports, and we are thrilled to bring together our shared love for design and innovation to make a resounding mark on the crowning achievement of our sport,” says Naz Aletaha, Riot Games Global Head of League of Legends Esports.
On the part of Mercedes-Benz, Steffen Köhl, Head of Advanced Exterior Design at Mercedes-Benz, and his team were responsible for the development process: “The ring was a challenge that we gladly accepted. In the end, we succeeded in combining the identities and design vocabularies of both partners in this unique ring design. We are looking forward to the moment when the winners are presented with the ring at the Trophy Ceremony. It embodies a real piece of Mercedes-Benz DNA.”
