Cloud9 announced that the positional coach, Max Waldo decided to leave the competitive roster and join the content creation team.
This year, Cloud9 announced their roster including the coaching staff. The Spanish coach Mithy joined the organization and Max Waldo moved back to his old role, positional coach. However, he decided to step down from his role before the 2023 season. According to the announcement by Cloud9, Max Waldo will continue his career as a content creator for the team. It is still unclear who will fill his role or if Cloud9 will make another coaching move for the upcoming season. The North American team is expected to make an announcement in the upcoming days.
Max Waldo had been working for Cloud9 for two years, until today. Last year, he was one of the coaching staff which was led by LS. However, LS left the team after some time, and Max was promoted to the head coach position. Cloud9 won the LCS Championship 2022 trophy and qualified for Worlds 2022. Max was one of the most important pieces of success.
100% my decision to leave, I had an awesome 2 years with C9 and wish them nothing but the best. I made the decision recently which is why I was included in their most recent team announcement.

Cloud9 announced the new 2023 roster a while ago and Max Waldo was a part of the announcement. However, he then decided to step down from his role, as seen above in his own words. He will continue to work for Cloud9, not as a coach but as a content creator. C9’s IWillDominate left the content creation team a couple of days ago and Max has joined the team to fill his shoes. C9’s head coach will still be Mithy but it is not clear whether the organization will sign an assistant to the Spanish coach.
