Team Liquid made a very competitive start to the 2022 off-season by signing the legendary top laner Jang “MaRin” Gyeong-hwan as a head coach.

MaRin was one of the most talented and famous top laners in the world back in the day. His professional career started with SK Telecom T1. He first played for the second team of the organization and then got promoted to the main team. In 2015 he reached the MSI Finals but failed to lift the trophy. The South Korean top laner won the Worlds Trophy the same year, under the SK Telecom T1 jersey. MaRin joined LGD Gaming, teaming up with imp, and spent 1.5 years in China. After an unsuccessful run overseas, he moved back to South Korea and played for Afreeca Freecs. MaRin lastly played for Top Esports in LPL, failing to reach the playoffs in both splits in 2018.
