After an unsuccessful season with Seattle Surge, ex-SMG Player Daniel “Loony” Loza is set to retire from professional Call of Duty play.
Loony started playing Call of Duty professionally in 2013 and played for some top-caliber teams in his career. Starting with Team FeaR, he played for Livin The Dream, Rise Nation, Team Kaliber, Team Envy, Splyce, Toronto Ultra, and Seattle Surge.
He proved his worth to the scene under the Rise Nation uniform. With his teammates Thomas “TJHaly” Haly, Peirce “Gunless” Hillman, and Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat, the team had many achievements until the Call of Duty World League Championship 2018. They were seen as a contender team but failed to finish the job in the big scene.
After proving himself to the industry, Loony found a valuable contract under the Splyce roof where he played for over a year. Just like his experience with Rise Nation, the Splyce roster could not go further than the 13-16th place in the tournament.
CDL Era
With the new Call of Duty League announcement, Loony got in touch with Toronto Ultra and pursued his career for the Canadian representatives. He spent the last two years of his career with Toronto Ultra and Seattle Surge but failed to achieve something worthy.
As he announced his retirement from professional play, it does not mean he will be going away from the scene entirely. According to his tweet, Loony will be open to coaching opportunities. Many professional players and coaches wished him luck on his new career path and some seemed sure that he will be back on the stage as a coach.
Loony had a long career considering the average player experience in the Call of Duty League nowadays. The experience that he holds in his hands may be suitable for those teams with rookies. His new stop will be clear in the upcoming weeks with the start of the new Call of Duty League season.
