Mid lane is one of the harder roles to play in LoL. Furthermore, champions played in the mid lane generally have a steep learning curve. Some champions are very hard to hard to execute and simply not worth playing. That said, here are five mid lane champions in League of Legends that are very hard to play and master.
Azir

Although an incredible team fighter and a hyper carry, Azir is rarely seen on the Summoner’s Rift. His early game is weak, and it takes a while before his damage comes online. Additionally, he is a squishy champion and can be subdued with repeated ganks.
Azir also has a very high skill floor and is difficult to use correctly. Even those who have practised the champion will have difficulty manoeuvring him correctly at times. Because of that, it is best to avoid the champion altogether when playing mid lane in LoL.
Zoe

Zoe was a mid lane powerhouse in LoL and saw play in both casual and competitive games on her release. But after some nerfs, her weaknesses became all too evident. Zoe’s early game is rather weak and, because of a lack of mobility in her kit, it’s to bully her. She has a hard time snowballing the early game and is usually not worth picking up.
It is also important to note that Zoe is so skill-shot-oriented that it takes precision to play the champion. Because of that, it may be difficult for mid lane players to master her.
Orianna

Orianna, similar to Zoe, is very immobile, making her an easy target for opponents. While Orianna is a fairly easy champion to use, players trying her will discover that she is a highly skill- oriented champion that takes time to master.
Players should avoid picking Orianna for the reasons above, and she doesn’t fit well in the current meta. While some mid lane players in LoL may find joy in a challenge, Orianna is very weak at the moment, which only makes her harder to play.
Ryze

Ryze is a mid lane champion that, if given the resources, can quickly run away with a game because of how well he scales into the late game. However, it’s easier said than being done. His early game is severely lacking, and he frequently relies on others to carry him. Furthermore, if he falls behind early on, it becomes challenging for him to catch up.
Ryze’s ultimate is also lacklustre, not providing much utility or any damage. It’s tricky to utilise his ultimate effectively, and if done incorrectly, it can transport his entire team into the centre of combat. As a result, especially in ranked matches, players should avoid playing Ryze in the mid lane.
Katarina

Those who have played Katarina before know that, when played correctly, she can easily win her team the game. It is essential to understand that it takes a lot of practice to reach that point. Katarina can be a rather complicated champion to master, and it can be challenging to use her correctly if the player does not have prior experience with her.
Katarina is a glass cannon, meaning that she can dish out a lot of damage but is a squishy target herself. This means that if she dives into the middle of a fight, she has to kill everyone, or she won’t escape alive. Katarina is also susceptible to crowd control, so she is pretty much dead if she gets locked down. With all that in mind, it is best to avoid playing Katarina in the mid lane.
