When it comes to picking runes in League of Legends as a Support, choosing the right one is always a hassle, especially if you are playing an enchantress champion. Many players will simply take the default Sorcery runes as their primary and play the game with that; however, it’s not viable in every scenario. Here is why enchantress supports should be taking the Resolve tree as their primary runes instead of the Sorcery tree.
What is Resolve and Sorcery tree?
The Resolve and Sorcery trees are two of the five options available to players that provide champions additional benefits when inside a game. Resolve is generally taken on bulky champions such as Leona and Nautilus because the rune provides additional resistances. On the other hand, Sorcery is usually taken by mages such as Anivia and Twisted Fate as the runes provide more damage and poke.
At first, it may seem odd for enchantress support to take runes that tanks typically build, but there is a good reason for it. For Keystone Runes, the Sorcery tree mainly offers runes that only deal a little extra damage on top of the champion’s abilities. It may seem helpful at first, but dealing damage isn’t the main objective for most enchantress supports. Protecting allies is much more important than trying to whittle down opponents with damage.
The Resolve tree, on the other hand, has a bit more versatility in Keystone Runes. However, most enchantress supports will take Guardian over the alternatives. This is because it offers allies protection, making it a solid rune to bring into a damage-oriented lane. By taking Resolve over Sorcery, enchantress supports will be much more prepared to handle what the enemy team may throw at them.
Why should players take the Resolve tree over the Sorcery tree?
While the Sorcery tree has runes such as Manaflow Band for extra mana and Transcendence for increased ability haste, Resolve has a lot more to offer. These types of champions normally build items like Ardent Censer and Moonstone Rewner anyway, which already gives mana and ability haste. As a result, taking Sorcery becomes redundant.
Resolve not only provides sustainability, the secondary runes in the tree such as Font of Life and Revitalize increases the shielding and healing capabilities of the user. It not only helps in protecting allies, but the user gets additional resistance, making it harder for enemies to take you down. By taking secondary runes such as Bone Plating or Unflinching, players are much more likely to survive any fight they may find themselves in. This way, even if opponents target the support, they are much more likely to survive a bad fight than if they took Sorcery runes.
