Mbappe’s no longer EA’s poster boy
We got word this week that Ligue 1 is no longer considered one of the ‘top five’ leagues, and there’s further bad news for fans of French football. Kylian Mbappe, the poster boy for EA Sports’ Fifa franchise, is set to be axed. With more and more leaks dropping about the radical new future for football simulators, join us here at Gamelevate as we dive into the latest one to be unearthed!
Kylian Mbappe Dropped
The EA-Fifa split has been covered to death at this point, so some major shakeups are to be expected when it comes to the release of EA Sports FC, the first game set to launch since the divorce.
Kylian Mbappe has been the cover star for the Fifa franchise for the past three games (Fifa 23, 22, and 21). It had previously been reported the PSG talisman had signed a multi-year deal with Fifa, but that appears to be void with EA walking away from the partnership.
According to a report by French online outlet Dealabs Magazine, Mbappe is out and a fellow prodigy rival is set to take his place.
Leaks suggest Man City’s Erling Haaland will be EA’s new poster boy, poised to front both the standard and Ultimate editions of EA Sports FC. Haaland was the success story of the 2022/23 season, bagging a whopping 52 goals in his debut season as Man City won the treble.
Nothing has been confirmed yet from EA’s side, however, with a new era on the horizon, a shakeup to the formula shouldn’t come as a major surprise. Especially when it’s in favour of the hottest star in the business right now.

EA Sports FC Release Date Teased
Dealabs Magazine were also quick to tease a release date for EA Sports FC.
According to their latest estimates, EA Sports FC will launch on September 29th 2023. Again, nothing has been confirmed from EA’s side so take this with a pinch of salt.
Previous estimates had been that EA Sports FC would mark EA’s earliest release date since launching their simulator series, however, September 29th would seemingly put that to bed. Although, the 29th is much more aligned with previous release dates for the Fifa franchise so believe what you want.
