CharacterBank’s new VR action RPG combines JRPG storytelling, swordplay, magic, and cross-platform multiplayer
CharacterBank has announced that its upcoming VR action RPG Knights of Fiona will launch on Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 3S, and Steam VR on September 3, 2026.
The game will be available from 10:00 AM PDT / 1:00 PM EDT / 5:00 PM UTC on September 3, with the Japanese release following at 2:00 AM JST on September 4.
Knights of Fiona will be free to start and support cross-platform multiplayer, allowing players on Meta Quest and Steam VR to play together. The game’s Story Pass will cost $18.99 and unlock the full story campaign.
Chapters 1 through 5 will be available at launch, while Chapter 6 is planned to arrive in a later update this year.
A VR JRPG Set in Gallia
Knights of Fiona is described as a full-scale VR JRPG set in Gallia, a fantasy world where thoughts can become a source of power.
Players take on the role of one of Fiona’s sworn knights and can battle enemies using a combination of swords, bows, and magic. The game supports both solo play and parties of up to three players.
The world is populated by a variety of enemies, including dragons and Formorian monsters born from lingering grudges.
According to CharacterBank director HOI, the studio designed the game after considering feedback from players of its previous VR title, RUINSMAGUS. The team sought to expand areas that players enjoyed while adding greater weapon, level, NPC, and boss variety.
CharacterBank CEO Shuto Mikami also said the studio wants to use the capabilities of newer VR headsets to create a unique narrative experience.
Cross-Platform Multiplayer
One of Knights of Fiona’s key features is its support for full cross-play between Meta Quest and Steam VR.
Players can therefore team up regardless of which supported platform they use. Groups of up to three can explore the game’s world and take on its enemies together.
The free-to-start model allows players to access the game without purchasing it upfront, while the $18.99 Story Pass provides access to the complete story content planned for the initial release.
English and Japanese Voice Support
Knights of Fiona will launch with both English and Japanese language support, giving players the option to experience the story with either language’s voices and subtitles.
The English story campaign was localized by Nob Ogasawara, whose previous localization work includes major franchises such as Pokémon, Dragon Quest, and Yakuza.
Fiona is voiced by Minami Tsuda in Japanese and Florence St. Leger in English.
From RUINSMAGUS to Knights of Fiona
CharacterBank is best known in the VR space for RUINSMAGUS, which preceded Knights of Fiona.
The studio raised more than 6 million yen from 815 backers through a 2026 Kickstarter and Campfire campaign to support its new project. A playable build of Knights of Fiona was also showcased at BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto in May.
Ahead of launch, the studio held an open beta from August 14 to August 16, attracting more than 1,600 players across Meta Quest and Steam VR. Feedback from the beta was used to make final adjustments ahead of release.
Knights of Fiona Release Date
Knights of Fiona launches on September 3, 2026, for Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 3S, and Steam VR.
The game will be free to start, with the $18.99 Story Pass unlocking the full story. Chapters 1 through 5 will be available at launch, while Chapter 6 is scheduled for a later update.
With its combination of VR action, JRPG storytelling, cooperative multiplayer, and cross-platform support, Knights of Fiona could be an interesting addition to the growing VR RPG market.
