Kalypso Media and Gaming Minds Studios have officially revealed Tropico 7, the newest entry in the award-winning city-building series. El Presidente is cutting his holiday short to return to power, suitcase in hand and ready to rule once more. The game is set to launch in 2026.
The reveal came with a teaser trailer shown at gamescom 2025, where El Presidente promised fans that Tropico 7 will take city-building to “new heights.”
A New Era for El Presidente
“Tropico 7 opens a new chapter in city-building, politics, and economics,” said Daniel Dumont, Studio and Creative Director at Gaming Minds Studios. “Players will have more control, more depth, and plenty of satire. As El Presidente would say: ‘The best Tropico ever, because it’s mine!’”
Fresh Features for Tropico Fans
Tropico 7 expands on the franchise’s classic formula with new mechanics and tools. For the first time, players will face faction leaders directly in council meetings, choosing to negotiate, manipulate, or simply ignore them.
Terraforming allows island rulers to reshape the land. Raise mountains, redirect rivers, or design flashy parks to prove vanity is still the best policy.
Players can also select a political affiliation that unlocks unique edicts and powers. Combined with a stronger military system, rulers can choose between keeping citizens happy or keeping them scared.
Mischief and Strategy Combined
When politics and power aren’t enough, El Presidente brings his own brand of chaos. Send agents on missions, stage PR stunts, or sway the masses with charisma. Rule with style, mischief, and plenty of flair.
Release and Platforms
Tropico 7 will launch in 2026. The game will be available on PC (Steam, Epic Games, Xbox on PC), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
