Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is hitting shelves next week, December 9th!
But the PC specs listed have some PC users worried if their rigs can handle the heat.
Are the specs too high and unoptimized, or is your PC finally too old?
Indy & The Great Circle
Indiana Jones & The Great Circle is eastbound on December 9th on PC and consoles. However, for PC users, one thing has them worried.
Bethesda and Machine Game’s latest title is pretty damn demanding spec-wise. Now this is not the simple too high RTX arguments. We are talking about recommended 32GB RAM and 4090s! The Great Circle is shaping up to be a right chugger of hardware looking at these specs.

But the minimum is still looking at 16GB RAM and 8GB GPU specs. However, the base size is a whopping 120GB file size! And no, I am not going to normalize high storage spaces like these. I don’t care!
Until manufacturers make hard drives that do more than 10TB comfortably, I will still preach this to the masses. Please optimize your file sizes, game studios, or make separate downloads for resolutions!
Listen, half the time it’s 4K textures and uncompressed file sizes doing the damage. But The Great Circle is a single-player game! What, they giving me 8K resolution of Harrison Ford’s behind now!

My Lord thats bigger than 2 Witcher 3s! Also to note, yes, 16GB really is the recommended RAM specs. But to be fair, RAM sizes and prices have reasonably changed over the years. That one is not such a big burn on the hardware and wallet.
Also, just to harp on the space thing again, the specs are asking for SDD storage. This is because of faster loading and AI upscaling compatibility.
So yeah, thanks, man. 120GB on my at-best 500GB SSD cheers! But the high specs asking for AI upscaling is a bit of a yikes thing, really.
Because that screams that you have not actually optimized the game. Check out the whole PS5 Pro article for a rundown on how that works. But TLDR is basically pretending to have smoother frames at the cost of fidelity.
It Belongs In A 1080
However, the case for specs-wise Indy and The Great Circle looks fun. It’s a game focusing on first-person action-adventure puzzles, which you don’t see AAA going for these days.

Classic, cheesy, swashbuckling fun is what the industry needs and always wanted, really. Yeah, Harrison is not doing the voice acting, but that’s for the best given his previous Indiana roles!
But at 1080p, aiming for 30 fps is ridiculous no matter the card. Aso 4080 16GB is just pushing ultra graphics at a native 60 FPS, really?

I’m sorry, but this game screams unoptimization, and the focus on upscaling alone is worrying. Because we are going to see more and more studios push this and rely upon AI. Upscaling is fine for old anime sometimes and movies with human input.
But knowing these studios, they most likely let the upscaler do the brunt of the work with no human touch. So yeah, hope you got that credit score up nice and high for a decent rig or enjoy the 30 FPS lifestyle!
