The IISUU Network is an upcoming, hyped emulator organiser many are excited for.
But the developer UsagiShade has landed in some hot water over mean comments!
However, what is this IISUU network, and why are Discord groups a bad idea?
IISUU Network
The IISUU Network is a front end for emulators much like Emulation Station. Its UI and style are a mix of PSP flow and the 3DS Home menu. Although the front end is not an emulator itself, it instead organises all your emulation games into one neat-looking UI with some added features.

Games are shown as widgets displaying both icons and recent screenshots from gameplay. Meanwhile, it sports full integration with RetroAchievements, having its own dedicated tab and sharing options.
Also, IISU Network has a built-in music player like XMP and even a photo viewer link to the software.

But the main sell of this platform is the social aspect, being the network menu. Here users can message, invite and browse much like the Miiverse menu. And it includes an instant messenger that displays while gaming on the emulators themselves.
In summary, IISU is just a really well-done and good-looking front end for emulation with all the bells and whistles in one place. Add onto that the frutiger aero style done so well with the menu theme and design; it’s no wonder it got so many people hyped so quickly for the full release.

But for me the integrated netplay server usage that lets you invite friends to online sessions was the big sale. Also, it had its own Shopify channel, allowing users to download community-made themes, music, assets, etc.
However, the future of the IISUU Network is left uncertain for some as the main developer leaves due to controversy. That being the mentioned UsagiShade.
Never Publish The Group Chat
A warning for all future developers and people in general, really… Never open up your private Discord/group chat to the public!

Unfortunately that was the mistake eastern developer Usagi Shade made when opening up his mate’s Discord server to allow fan interaction. Those types of people you already know about immediately started searching keywords that they are not a fan of.
Turns out the guy from Asia does not hold the same values as a liberal from LA! Shocker, I know!

However, to some, there were one too many inflammatory statements and even allegations thrown at the lad! So because of this, the man left the project and is no longer affiliated with the IISUU Network!
Although the other developers have confirmed that the project is continuing in full swing without his support.
It’s sad to see yet another case of a developer chased out of his passion by ravenous (Western) fans hungry for blood.
I had a look at his comments, and yes, they were pretty out there and had a little 2000s edge. But so what?
Honestly, the guy could be spouting flat earth theories and bashing Diane. I could not care less. He’s some kid making an emulation front end, not a politician. But it’s your right to not support someone because they said slurs back in 2023.
If that is the thought process, then it is a revelation that a large number of young men outside of the West do not hold the same nurtured chat standards of the university classroom board!
Many hope the IISUU Network can deliver on its presentation video, as it still looks great. But let this example be a lesson for those looking to reach out to the community.
Just don’t really. Or maybe just do not let it get to you in the first place. They only hold as much power as you are willing to give them.
Just release the project first, then open up a NEW chat group!
