Been wondering how to setup Fightcade and play retro fighters online with friends?
This free bit of software allows gamers to play classic fighters with gamers all over the world!
Also packaged with emulators, let’s take a look at how to run Fightcade.
How to Setup Fightcade Guide
Fightcade is a matchmaking application for playing retro games online, bundled with different emulators for seamless online play. Free, and without ads!
Fightcade comes with a custom GGPO implementation and other emulator improvements, making it the best platform for rollback-based P2P netplay. This means that demanding games in terms of input lag and responsiveness can be played over the internet with very little perceivable lag.
This bit of software means we can play classics like SF2, JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure, and KOF online with friends!
Setting up the fightcade and playing is also fairly simple and easy to do.
Firstly, we need to download the Fightcade exe from the website and install it. When choosing a directory, make sure it’s somewhere you can easily access it.
Secondly, once installed, we need to run Fightcade 2 and make an account. Once made, log into Fightcade, and you should be greeted to this menu.
As stated on their website, Fightcade does not come with any ROMs and does not link to them due to piracy. And of course, neither do we here, as we believe in copyright and support digital preservation and emulation, not piracy.
However, there is this handy bit folder you can install into Fightcade here that will allow you to install roms by adding them to Fightcade and sourcing them online.
By copying and pasting all of the contents of that zip into the emulators for Fightcade, we can now streamline the whole process.
Now, via the magnifying glass, we can search for our favorite games, join the online lobby, and play from there.
Test out your rig via the top right before hopping on any online matches before hand, and you are all set to go!
Although some fighters have been repackaged and sold for modern online platforms such as the Street Fighter Anniversary collection and SF3 Online. Many classic games have been left by publishers to die a slow death.
But Fightcade helps preserve the classics while also making online play easier than ever.
This does not go for just fighting games but every multiplaer arcade game possible via Fightcade. We are talking Turf Masters, Super Turbo Puzzle and many more.
These games are centuries old and are not going to be made accessable on Steam any time soon.
So enjoy Fightcade with freinds and hop in the lobby!
