Some gamers are having issues setting up their CS2 Quickswitch Bind commands.
Valve’s lates Counter Strike installment has made some changes since CSGO into Source 2.
Here is how to get them working in the open beta…
CS2 Quickswitch Bind And How It Works
Firstly, a quick switch bind is a switch to your knife, and then quickly back to your weapon when the binded key is pressed. This bind is used by players who use scope weapons like AWPs, scouts, and even deagles to instantly switch to the knife and then back to their gun after firing a shot.

Although it looks cool, this offers no bonus in terms of recoil or the time until another shot can be fired. However, it does mean that the SSG-08 and AWP will not re-scope after firing.
Also, it allows players to move quickly after missing a shot. Because players move faster with the knife equipped, in that short window of quickswitching, we move quicker than normal, allowing us to reposition out of harm’s way.
We have been able to quickswitch since CS:S and CS:GO and still do so even with CS2, but there are some slight tweaks we need to make.
How To Set The Quickswitch Bind
Some gamers have reported issues with setting up their CS2 Quickswitch Bind. A few belive this to be because multiple actions cannot be bound to one key. Because of this it could be messing up with gamer’s console commands.
The common bind for it back from CS:GO is bind q “use weapon_knife;slot1”.

For CS2 try this out. Open up the Console Window in CS2 Copy and Paste:
alias +switchw "slot3"alias -switchw "lastinv"bind "G" +switchw
This should get the Quickswitch method working. Although, as the Beta functions currently it will not save once you close the game. This is because unlike CSGO there’s no autoexec in CS2 currently.

Valve may add this in the future meaning we could get to use Autoexecs. If the lines do nothing try pasting in “host_writeconfig” before and after the code.
If you wish to bing it to a differnt key just replace “G” with what you would want.
CS2 Beta
Counter-Strike 2 arrives this summer as a free upgrade to CS:GO and is available on Steam and Steam Deck. To get the closed Beta make sure to get you rank and check your emails. The Limited Test only evaluates a subset of Counter-Strike 2’s features, so that major issues can be resolved before the summer.
