If you want to learn how to play Twisted Fate, build guide of ours will be very beneficial on your end!
Twisted Fate is the best of the best when it comes to soloQ mid laners.
He is known as the pocket pick of great soloQ player Dopa. The champion hasn’t changed much since it was released, and thus it is still a great option for climbing ranks.
Thanks to his semi-global ultimate, this champion has the potential to carry all other lanes in the game.
Also, with his gold card being a 2-second point-and-click stun, he is good at ganking, setting up ganks, and creating unexpected picks.
This Twisted Fate build guide will focus on the best runes and items for the champion.
Twisted Fate Build Guide: Runes
There are some different rune paths for the current state of Twisted Fate. However, the First Strike path is the most consistent and has the most potential. For that reason, we will use a rune tree with First Strike Keystone in this TF build guide.
Inspiration, a.k.a. the “left part” of your rune page. Your Twisted Fate build will mainly rely on these runes and they are:
- First Strike: This rune synergizes with TF’s passive and helps him get to his RoA earlier.
- Magical Footwear: Since we will buy RoA it’s nice to save money from boots and go for RoA faster.
- Minion Dematerializer: Minion Dematerializer is great because you get to use it on a cannon minion and shove the lane for an easy roam. You can also use all of them on mage minions to be able to one-shot with Q later.
- Cosmic Insight: We talked about his pick potential. Having reduced CD on your flash is great for TF as he can always flash stun to engage skirmishes.
Sorcery is the “right side” of your rune page where you pick only two runes. These runes are also very important for your Twisted Fate build.
Transcendence: We take transcendence simply for the ability haste. The more ability haste you have, the more stuns you can bring out in a team fight.
Gathering Storm: TF’s damage is not much in the late game. Gathering Storm helps you compensate for that with some extra AP in the late game.
Twisted Fate Build Guide: Items
Twisted Fate has been a good user of RoA for years, and with the new changes and buffs to the item, now it’s better than ever. That’s why we will concentrate on that in this TF build guide.
Rushing RoA quickly and roaming while it stacks up stats for you is an unchangeable part of the TF playstyle.
The other items may change, but Ionian Boots and RoA are now simply too good for TF not to build. Here is what your Twisted Fate build should look like at the end of the game:
- Rod of Ages
- Ionian Boots
- Rapid Fire Cannon
- Zhonya’s Hourglass
- Rabadon’s Deathcap
Mind that this is a build focused mostly on mid-game. Most of the time, you won’t have time to finish your Deathcap which is the single biggest damage item for mages.
TF’s job is not to deal high amounts of damage in team fights, It’s to provide cc and create picks for your team. If the game breaks early and teams start to group, you can prioritize Rapid Fire Cannon over Lichbane to create picks in those 5v5 standoffs.
If you are split-pushing or the game is on a slow tempo, go for Lich Bane before RFC.
Is Twisted Fate a good support?
It could be used as a support champion in lower elos. The point-and-click stun could work, but in higher elos you would get punished pretty easily.
What lane is best for Twisted Fate?
Obviously, mid lane, as mentioned in the TF build guide.
