Don’t tell Gabe, but there is a way to painlessly play Counter Strike 2 on Mac!
After its release in 2023, there is still no official Apple support for CS2 gamers.
However, with this third-party software, both CS2 and many other Windows games become playable.
Counter Strike 2 on Mac
Firstly, we have three major methods of playing Counter Strike 2 on Mac. Although, unlike CSGO, Valve dropped native Mac support when upgrading to the current CS.
However, we got three methods and honestly only two viable options if you are on Apple.
First is, of course, cloud gaming or streaming CS. We got GeForce NOW and Boosteroid to simply stream it to our computers. But come on now, I don’t care if you got NASA speeds. Because do you really want to be that guy knowingly playing with latency issues?

Secondly and more commonly, there is Windows 10/11 emulation. Using methods like Boot Camp and Crossover lets you play Counter Strike 2 on Mac.
However, although Bootstrap is decent, it requires partitioning of your hard drives. Meaning you have to dedicate a fair chunk of your space to being a Windows machine. Meanwhile, only Intel Macs can use it, and it is quite demanding software.

And the third method is remote play from a Steam Windows PC, but come on, that’s just silly!
But for this guide, I am mainly going to be focusing on using Crossover, as they have drastically improved their overall performance.
Although keep in mind this software is not free.
It does have a weeklong trial so you can see if it is the fit for you. However, you will have to part ways with 50 dollars of cash. But it is easy to use and has an extensive list of compatible games.
CrossOver Steve
Also, this software is usable for Linux users looking to play some CS. In the case of Counter Strike 2 on Mac, this does just fine.

Once we have CrossOver installed, we have to extract the files and open up CrossOver. Scroll down the application lists and find Steam and install it.

For my settings I have it set to Msync and D3DMetal on the side panel, but configure it to your specs.
Before hopping into a straight game, we can right-click on our game to run it through Metal Hud. This will allow us to see the stats and stress test the software.
Also open up Steam, head on to your library, and boom, Counter Strike 2 on Mac.
But if you experience any crunchy audio glitches, then head on over to your Audio MIDI Setup and change the hertz to 96K, and that should fix it. Although keep in mind with CrossOver any game with a kernel-level anti-cheat is not going to work.
However, it does more than a well enough job for Counter Strike 2 on Mac. Just make sure to change the in-game graphics settings. Honestly anything aimed at 120 FPS or above and your fans are going to reach orbit!
Also, if the gameplay is not smooth, try disabling multicore rendering, as that was the trick for me.
