Bricks are one of the easy-to-find and most common minerals in the Minecraft world, having been added to the game in the Java Edition Alpha version of the game in 2010. There are two variants of brick in the game: brick, a mineral used for crafting, and bricks, a decoration block used for building.
Here’s everything you need to know about bricks in Minecraft.
How do you craft bricks?
Bricks in Minecraft can either be traded from a stonemason villager in return for an emerald or from clay blocks randomly spawned across the world. Clay blocks are most commonly found in shallow waters near the coast, often spawning in next to sand and dirt blocks, and appear as a light blue/grey color.
When mined with a shovel, clay blocks will drop four clay balls which, when smelted in a furnace, will give a player one brick for each ball.
Three bricks can be used in a crafting table to make a flower pot, or four in a square will craft one bricks block.
How do you find bricks?
As well as being a craftable block from four clay bricks, the bricks item can be found in underwater ruins (both cold and warm variants) and in plains armorer villager houses, for those sadistic enough to steal from a village.
On top of being a pretty-looking building block, bricks can be used to craft slabs, walls, stairs, and Banner Pattern Field Masoneds in the Bedrock Edition of the game.
Bricks require pickaxes to be fully mined and picked up; using anything other than a pickaxe will simply result in the item despawning from the world.
