Time to settle down and finally make that Steam Family Grandma’s been asking about!
Vavle’s Steam feature allows you to share your library with up to 6 members.
But how do we make one and do we need a prenuptial before starting one?
The Nuclear Steam Family
Firstly a Steam Family is not just a way to share your games with freinds. Although if you want it to be can be!
When creating one you make a group which contains up to 6 members. Unlike a regular Steam Group members of this gain extra features. Primarily they get access to family sharing.

This gives members access to all the games owned by each member. Because once you create or become part of one your libraries will update granting access to everyone’s games. However do note that i does not mean you own the games once part of one.
Instead its like if your dad bought a movie at the shops. He legally has ownership of the DVD and you have access to it any any time. But you cannot both use the DVD at the same time (imagine it is a strained relationship no shared viewings).

Instead you can borrow the DVD from your dad and watch it anytime. Also when he is watching it you have to wait for him to finish. Because if you want to play a game together at the same time you will need to buy a copy for ownership to do so. However if two members of the Steam Family have a copy then two people can play at once and so on…
Also like a real family the adults can (should) control the screen time of the others. Adult members can control what games are accessible and to who. But they can also view how long someone has been playing a game and set time limits. This effect only applies to child members of the Steam Family.
Making One In This Economy

Firstly to make a Steam Family is very easy by heading to the Steam settings on the top left of the dashboard. From here go to settings and click on the family page to see the setup process. We have the option to join or create one and we are going to simply click the create button.

Give you Steam Family a name and pesto it is done. But to add members all we have to do is make sure who we want to add is on our friends list. Scroll over to invite a member and add the person you want to create blood ties with.
Once selected an invitation to the group will be made and if accept[ted they will join immediately. If this is for an IRL one make sure to set child members as children so that you can control access to what they play. Little Timmy is not yet ready for Postal 1 perhaps!
Also if this is with non blood related freaks online please make them children as well. This is to avoid having someone block access to the only copy of Dead Rising mid session for a funny gag.
But even better than real ones with a Steam Family you can remove people entirely. Just head ton the management page in settings and remove their icon. No pricey lawyers just the cold efficiency of the machine which that vile dog truly deserves!

I know you are out there you queen of the Harpies! You think you can delete my 2000 hours Oblivion save file and get away with it?
