G2 Esports have started their Valorant Masters Berlin run with a win over the Korean representatives F4Q.
The European representatives G2 Esports and Korean team F4Q battled each other in the opening game of Group D. This was the first match in which two regions faced each other in VALORANT Masters. F4Q fought until the end but G2 Esports proved to be the stronger side, as the European representatives started their run with a win.
Ascent
G2 Esports made a slow start on the attackers side, and waited for mistakes that they could benefit from. Cista “keloqz” Wassim popped off with four kills and the European team started the game with dominance. They had a 33 percent win rate in Ascent since the start of August but it seemed like they have solved their problems. Even though F4Q made a promising run in the second half, it still was not even close in the end. G2 Esports closed out the game in 18 rounds, 13-5.
Bind
Just like the first map, G2 Esports made another strong start. The French player keloqz was the protagonist once again. However, this time F4Q answered back to G2’s bonus round play and evened the scoreboard in the early stages. The Korean team looked so hyped after every round and managed to keep their heads in the game. The captain Yoo “FiveK” Sung-min stepped up for his team to get ahead in the game. After losing the second pistol round, G2 did not have the tools to stop F4Q’s momentum. The Korean team won the map with a score of 13-8.
Haven
The third map started head-to-head with both teams making moves for the victory. F4Q answered almost every move of G2 and they played cat and mouse with each other. The game was so close until the end. However, G2 Esports made the difference in the later stages of the game to close out the series. F4Q have shaken their opponents but could not knock them down.
Group D includes three teams unlike other groups due to BREN Esport’s absence. The next game will be between the group favorites Sentinels and G2 Esports, on September 12. Until then, the other group matches will be played between different regions.
