G2 Esports made a great start to the MSI 2022 Rumble Stage by taking down the favorites, T1 and Royal Never Give Up.
The MSI 2022 Rumble Stage has started with big surprises. G2 Esports made the first surprise by winning over T1 in the opening game of the stage. The second upset has also came from no team different than the European representatives. G2 Esports took down the Chinese giants, Royal Never Give Up. G2 are the only team without a loss in the stage after the first day.
Rasmus “caPs” Winther picked Yasuo in the opening game of the day and had a great performance to help his team in certain scenarios. Moreover, Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski carried his team on his shoulder with a text-book Diana performance to close out the competition. T1’s young top Laner, Choi “Zeus” Woo-je didn’t have the best performance of his career with Kenden in his hands, failing to provide any support to his teammates. G2 won the first game with a big margin and surprised everyone.
It is not a doubt that the European representatives had the hardest schedule on the first day. They had to come up against Royal Never Give Up in their second game. This time, the competition was closer. RNG managed to lock Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik but caPs was there to save the day again. Alongside him, Victor “Flakked” Lirola also had a great performance throughout the game. After taking the Baron buff, G2 Esports made it look so easy and closed out the game in 37 minutes.
G2 are now the only undefeated team in the stage. The favorites, RNG and T1 are sitting at one win and one loss just like Evil Geniuses and PSG Talon. Unfortunately, Saigon Buffalo failed to win a single game on the first day.
