Four players from North and Central America have taken their spots for the FIFAe World Cup in London.
The race to London
The FIFAe World Cup 2021 is right around the corner, and its regional qualifiers are slowly drawing to a conclusion. Over the past few weeks, Oceania, East Asia, and West Asia have crowned regional champions.
Of the 32 slots up for grabs at the World Cup, eight have been filled. The latest of those come from the North & Central America region. The regional qualifiers took place between June 18-20 and culminated excitingly. Here’s a rundown of the events.
Xbox One series
Representatives from Mexico made out like bandits during the qualifiers played on the Xbox One console. Runner-up KrowMx Esports Aldo “Izecsoon” Uresti came out the first round on top of KRU Esports Gustavo “Gustavo” Nascimento. Then, he matched up against SB18 Kalel “Memoriezs” Vanscoit. He would later fall to the losers bracket after coming short against another SB18 player in Alex “PHARM” Arias.
After defeating Essentials Gaming Ariel in the Loser’s Bracket Final, Izecsoon faced the very player that brought him down the first time, PHARM. However, PHARM kept his undefeated status and would not give up his momentum, ultimately winning it all in the Grand Finals. Both PHARM and Izecsoon will be at the London World Cup come August.
PlayStation series
Mohamed “KingCJ0” Alioune Diop of D.C. United of eMajor League Soccer continued to his string of in-form performances. Already representing the United States in the FIFAe Nations Cup, KingCJ0 stormed out of the gates during the knockout stages and made his way to the winner’s final. However, it was here that KingCJ0 bumped met a brick wall in the form of Vancouver Whitecaps’ Agit “Agiitpower” Katilmis.
The latter knocked the D.C. United star down to the Loser’s final in a 5-3 aggregate win. KingCJ0 managed to outlast New York Red Bull’s George “Adamou_99” Adamou, who had fought his way to the Loser’s Final from the very beginning of the bottom bracket. KingCJ0 would get his revenge at the Grand Finals after beating Agiitpower in both their series to claim the Regional Champion title.
Only the South America and Europe Regional Qualifiers remain. They will be on June 24-27 for the former. The Xbox qualifiers for Europe will be on July 2-4, and the PlayStation qualifiers on July 9-11. Catch all the action on Fifa.gg or the FIFAe Twitch channel.
