Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 7 has finally here, after weeks of anticipation and Epic Games has planned the season to proceed in a completely different direction after the Primal-themed period in Season 6.
The island of Fortnite has been overrun by aliens, and the new season of the battle royale game is all about defending it along with allies such as Doctor Slone, Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty, and Superman himself.
Map Changes
Season 7 of Fortnite has arrived, and as usual, Epic Games has tweaked the map, renaming some of the current points of interest (POIs).
Corny Complex
Colossal Crops has been renamed to Corny Complex. It hasn’t been completely revamped as the external structures appear to be similar, but within the buildings, it appears like someone is attempting to communicate with the alien spaceship hovering above the island.
Believer Beach
Similar to Colossal Corps, Sweaty Sand has also received a new name in this update and is now known as Believer Beach. The structure of the POI is similar to the previous season, but there are murals of aliens painted on walls, and a crop circle-like image drawn on the sand symbolizing the presence of aliens.
Alien Spaceship
The Spire and the Zero Point are no longer present on the map after the Alien Mothership abducted them (as shown in the trailer). However, the same Alien Spaceship is currently hovering above the island and we don’t yet know whether the spaceship will land at any point in the season or will it stay floating until the end.
Drivable UFOs
These flying saucers will be swarming the map, which players can either shoot down or hijack. Taking control of one of the saucers allows players to move about the island with their team and use the built-in weaponry to destroy enemies. Furthermore, these Saucers will also drop Nuts and Bolts, which may be utilized to make new weapons out of old ones. These components can be used to convert Assault Rifles into Burst Assault Rifles or Shotguns into Lever Action Shotguns.
New Weapons
Fortnite Season 7 introduces four new weapons in the game, including:
Kymera Ray Gun
This weapon has an endless magazine and it produces a continuous lethal beam that deals nine damage to enemies each second that it lands the shot.
Pulse Rifle
This unique weapon deals 33 damage at a relatively long range and players can convert it between full and semi-automatic modes based on whether they are hip shooting or shooting down sights.
Recon Scanner
This new weapon fires a bolt that will label adjacent foes and chests, dealing a whopping 98 damage per shot in the process.
Rail Gun
Although this weapon deals considerable damage (85) with each shot, players will have to charge it up before each shot, making it a slow-firing alternative.
Items and Weapons – Vaulted and Unvaulted
Epic Games has once again revamped the loot pool. Here is the list of items that were vaulted and unvaulted:
Vaulted items in Season 7
- All Makeshift Weapons
- All Primal Weapons
Unvaulted items in Season 7
- Lever Action Shotgun (craftable via Nuts and Bolts)
- Burst Assault Rifle (craftable via Nuts and Bolts)
- Rapid Fire SMG (craftable via Nuts and Bolts)
- Silenced SMG
- Heavy Assault Rifle
- Launch Pad
- Bolt Action Sniper Rifle
- Hand Cannon
- Supply Chests
- Vending Machines
New Items in Season 7
- Nuts and Bolts (crafting material)
Loot Llamas are alive
Loot Llamas will now run around the map in Season 7 instead of merely remaining stationary after spawning in. Upon moving around, they randomly drop shields, ammo and crafting materials as shown in the video above.
New Fortnite Battle Pass System
Players will earn Battle Stars every time they level up instead of unlocking cosmetics by achieving particular levels on the Pass. Players may then swap Battle Stars for Battle Pass rewards in whatever order they wish.
Here are all the characters included in the Battle Pass:
- Sunny — An Alien sympathizer and Punk rocker.
- Guggimon — Synthetic artist who thrives in the chaos.
- Joey — A double agent alien in disguise.
- Zyg — A battle droid created by the Alien Choppy.
- Doctor Slone — The leader of the Imagined Order
- Rick Sanchez — From Rick and Morty
- Superman
With the battle pass, players can obtain the Kymera Outfit, which is a highly customizable skin with over 800,000 different looks that can be created using different head shapes, eye colors, skin patterns, and more. These customization options can be unlocked by finding Alien Artifacts scattered around the Island.
Alien Parasites, abductions and Cosmic Chests:
The Alien abductions that were taking place towards the end of Season 6 will continue as the Alien Mothership will abduct the players to loot henchmen chests for 15 seconds before throwing them back to the map. While the recently introduced Alien Parasites are critters that will stick to players’ heads and take 40 health but grant them the ability to run faster and jump higher. Players can get rid of the parasite by touching fire, water, or becoming a prop. Apart from Supply Chests that have returned this season, another loot box called Cosmic Chests has been introduced. These require teams to coordinate smashing weak spots to unlock them. They offer higher-tier loot but are only available in duos, trios and squads.
