Epic Games has rolled out the v36.10 update for Ballistic, bringing a fresh map, new gear, gameplay tweaks, and quality-of-life improvements. The highlight of this patch is the debut of K-Zone Commons, a new shell map inspired by Korean architecture. Along with this, the update includes a new weapon, healing gadget, rank reset, and key fixes.
K-Zone Commons Joins Map Rotation
K-Zone Commons is built for high-paced action. This map is all about pushing forward and playing aggressive. Multiple areas of contention encourage dynamic strategies and unexpected flanks. It’s now part of the map pool alongside Skyline 10, Hammer Fall, Storm Chaser Cove, and Cinderwatch.
Machine Pistol: Small Gun, Big Impact
The new Machine Pistol delivers rapid-fire damage in close quarters. It’s a fully automatic secondary weapon with a 14-round magazine and high recoil. While hard to control, it excels as a finishing weapon after using your primary. It’s also ideal when facing multiple enemies, offering budget-friendly burst fire.
Med Mist Grenade Brings Healing to the Field
Support players have a new tool with the Med Mist Grenade. This is Ballistic’s first healing gadget. When thrown, it releases a mist on impact that heals everyone in its radius over time—including enemies. Use it wisely and try to avoid healing the other team by mistake.
Pre-Game Warmup Introduced
v36.10 also adds a Pre-Game Warmup phase. Before matches start, players can try out weapons and practice aim on training targets while the rest of the lobby loads in. Once all 10 players are in, the match countdown will begin as usual.
Ranked Season Reset: R&D Season 2
With the update comes a full Ranked reset for the launch of R&D Season 2. Whether you’re returning or playing for the first time, your rank will be re-established after one placement match. Progression depends on match outcome, eliminations, assists, and the number of rounds won or lost. Your team’s average rank still determines matchmaking.
Early Access Improvements
Following feedback from the May update, Epic has added pre-match team balancing. This ensures even teams before matches begin. For example, a 5v3 lobby will now be adjusted to a fair 4v4 before the round kicks off.
Another small but impactful change is the hair trigger feature on the Hand Cannon. Players can now tap the trigger quickly to fire sooner, sacrificing accuracy. Holding the trigger still works as usual with the same fire rate.
Coming later this summer are two anticipated updates: player backfill for early leavers and completed environmental art for the Hammer Fall map.

You can share your thoughts via the post-match survey or by posting in the Fortnite subreddit, Discord, or regional Discords like Fortnite Brasil & Portugal.
