It was a mixed day for international CS teams as BIG took out Complexity while mousesports dispatched Fnatic in their opening round matches.
A BIG result
In retrospect, the Nuke win should have been a portent of things to come. A map where the German side had a poor record as of late, they followed up a 10-5 CT half with a close-run victory as they secured the map by the narrowest of margins in regulation, winning 16-14 before proceeding to their own map pick of Dust 2.
Though Complexity raced to a 5-0 lead, that was about as good as it got for the international side, eventually ending the half 7-8. They’d only win a single round on the T side as BIG easily secured their spot in the upper bracket for the second round of Flashpoint 3, a matchup against mousesports.

Little mouz got the cheese
The matchup between Fnatic and mousesports promised to clarify a lot about the state of these two teams. Both far from their ESL Pro League Season 10-11 final glory days, the first RMR event in many months would clarify the stakes and the skill levels, especially in the case of the Swedes who played very little top tier competition in the past few months.
The ring rust clearly showed on the servers as mouz, led by Christopher “dexter” Nong, scored an almost embarrassingly easy victory over the Swedes, winning 16-8 on Inferno and 16-4 on Overpass. Maikil “Golden” Selim and Jesper “JW” Wecksell both finished on -22 K/D across the 44 rounds played in total, raising serious questions about the prospects of the side. Fnatic will now have to defeat Complexity to stay alive in the tournament.
Flashpoint 3 continues tomorrow with a matchup between Heroic and Sprout plus the NiKo derby pitting G2 against FaZe Clan. With the Bosnian going up against his old team led by his former in-game leader, it’s going to be a spicy one to watch.
