Bungie Community has released the first Marathon Behind-the-Scenes developer interview (Bungie ViDoc)!
Marathon Behind-the-Scenes Reveal
At this year’s PlayStation Showcase, Bungie revealed Marathon, a new PvP-focused extraction shooter and the first completely new project from the studio in more than a decade.
After the reveal, eagle-eyed fans worked together to analyse and share confounding and conflicting clues, uncovering a network of lore-inspired secrets.
Their successful completion led to the unlocking of Bungie’s first-ever Marathon ViDoc for players, entitled Somewhere in the Heavens.
Treasure hunters continue to work diligently, as there are still more things left to be revealed aside from the ViDoc. What mysteries are still in store for fans to discover?
Marathon is a sci-fi PvP extraction shooter. A lost colony on the planet Tau Ceti IV is being explored by gamers as cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners in search of wealth, fame, and notoriety.
For the PlayStation 5 and PC, Marathon is currently being developed with complete cross-play and cross-saving.
Will Marathon have a single-player campaign?
The developers designed Marathon to be a PvP-focused game from the beginning, which is why it won’t feature a single-player campaign.
Instead, the developers are using the PvP experience as their foundation. They are actively building possibilities for player-driven storylines to develop, intertwining them with the broader game narrative.
They are creating a persistent, ever-evolving universe where each run a player takes lets them chart their own course.
That might result in an epic clash with another crew striving for the same spoils or a last-minute extraction while under attack from all sides.
