A new art-book has confirmed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Censorship!
Square Enix’s redo of the PS1 classic has always of been rumored of had affected content.
But what are these censorship made and why were they done in the first place?
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Censorship
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Censorship was made by their ethics department. However specifically it revolves around the representation of the characters outfits. Mainly around Cloud, Aerith and Tifa during the Beach section.
But for context these comes from exerts from an official FF7 Rebirth art-book. The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Material Ultamania. Although this book contains mostly stellar artwork it has comments from character artists.
And one in particular Roberto Ferrari has comments that point out some depressing affairs. Firstly on the topic of cloud’s design he mentions directly Ethical Guidelines. Because of these guidelines and internal feedback characters like him and others were drawn in a way that did not ’emphasize their figures’.
Meaning that this was Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Censorship enforced by higher ups.
But lets be honest here it probably means he was told not to make them too attractive. Also this is seen in Aerith’s pink mermaid design. He mentions this swimsuit being made in a response to conceal her feminine curves as much as possible! The guy was literally told do not make her look so womanly!
But the worst was for Tifa’s design as he mentions how much of a challenge it was to get hers approved. However in this case he mentions it comes from players being able to change camera angles . Also again he mentions not overemphasis her feminine figure.
This Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Censorship is some of the worst affecting my beloved Tifa! He has dev trolls forcing him to take the fan service and sex appeal out of an FF game! Thats like a Pizza with nothing on it!
Square Enix Censors So I Don’t Buy
Although some would argue this is not news worthy, shut it you are wrong! Firstly censoring the fine art that is JRPG is morally wrong in any shape or form. The Dragon Quest guys go through a lot of shite on a regular bases.
But in general I do not like the president of censroing games to appeal to no one. Because that what this is aimed for, no- one. Secondly Censorship departments under any name are prone to corruption and mismanagement. Like a Driving Instructor they have to meet a quota of fails per month or their job does not exist.
A lot of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Censorship is around non – issues that should not be. Ask yourself why is it demanded that you do not display the feminine figure. Or why is it no one is aloud to come of as appealing int the fan service section?
Because this push for the eradication of beauty in games is ugly. Although it seems small little things like this get pushed onto projects more and more. At what point have we becomes the puritans of yesteryear demanding no legs shown ingame?
Finally some games and characters do run on sex appeal. This is just a fact that if you deny proves that you are lacking cognitive reasoning!
Overall I do not like this Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Censorship or any for that matter. Let the Eastern video game be eastern.
There is enough ugliness in reality and HR departments as is we do not need more of it!
