Cristiano Ronaldo is the most prolific goalscorer the beautiful game has ever seen and, even at 37 years young, is still proving his pedigree as an accomplished player in the toughest league in the world. The Portuguese forward might have bagged 22 goals in all competitions last season, but it looks like Manchester United’s shambolic performances on the pitch might just cost CR7 a BIG downgrade in this year’s Fifa. Check out Gamelevate as we take a look at the latest rumors swirling around the latest Fifa 23 ratings, and what they might entail for Cristiano Ronaldo.
An Unexpected Downgrade?
With Fifa 23 looming large on the horizon, the annual discussion around which of the world’s biggest superstars will step into the game with the highest ratings has already kickstarted.
Manchester United dropped from 2nd in the 2020/21 Premier League season to 6th in 2021/22, racking up their lowest-ever points tally for over thirty years. On the back of such a dismal season, some hefty downgrades were expected for the Red Devils’ players.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo finished third in the 2021/22 Premier League Golden Boot, scoring 18 times including two hattricks against Norwich and Tottenham. He also recorded some seriously clutch moments on the biggest stage in the Champions League, scroing against Villareal and Atalanta to help United avoid an embarrassing group stage exit.
Despite this, if recent leaks are to be believed, it looks like Ronaldo hasn’t been spared from these downgrades either:

The End Of An Era?
In Fifa 22, Cristiano Ronaldo was given a 91 rating by EA, making him the joint-third best player in the game behind Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski.
Again, if you believe the leaks, that rating has dropped to just 90, in what would be the Portuguese forward’s lowest base rating since Fifa 11.
To be fair, Lionel Messi also looks set to receive a downgrade in Fifa 23 in what is looking like the first step in football’s two GOATs losing their titles as the two undisputed titans in the world.
Both players have elevated the game to new heights, smashed every single record in the book collectively, and continue to defy expectations with their longevity still producing moments of magic even in 2022.
But, all eras must come to an end, and Fifa 23 might just be the moment where we all look back and think ‘that’s where it all started falling away’.
