UEFA Euro 2020 players
- Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, ST) (99 OVR) – a no-brainer just in terms of name recognition alone, Cristiano Ronaldo headlines the Summer Stars Team 1 thanks to his contribution to Portugal’s overall performance in the UEFA Euro 2020. Although the team finished with four points in the group stage, and lost in the round of 16 to Belgium, Ronaldo’s five goals in those four matches helped him make the cut in Summer Stars Team 1.
- Kevin de Bruyne (Belgium, RF) (98 OVR) – although he only scored one goal in all of Belgium’s matches in UEFA Euro 2020, star midfielder Kevin de Bruyne makes the Summer Stars 2021 Team 1 roster due to his tenacity despite nursing a known injury. He was instrumental in the team’s amazing performances in both the group stages and the round of 16, until Belgium’s winning streak was finally broken by Italy in the quarterfinal, who were in the midst of a winning streak themselves.
- Luka Modrić (Croatia, CM) (97 OVR) – considered by many to be the best Croatian footballer of all time, midfielder Luka Modrić was a force to be reckoned with in many of Croatia’s matches in the group stages until the round of 16. His 90% passing accuracy in the 384 minutes he played in all four matches of the team gave him a spot for the Summer Stars Team 1 roster.
- Manuel Locatelli (Italy, CM) (95 OVR) – the young and rising star midfielder of Italy, Manuel Locatelli’s solid performance in three of the team’s five games helped Italy in preserving their winning streak. Locatelli scored two goals in those three matches and boasted a 92% passing accuracy, giving him a spot on the Summer Stars Team 1 roster.
- Aymeric Laporte (Spain, CB) (95 OVR) – Spain’s victory over Switzerland in the quarterfinals netted them a spot in the semi-final next week against Italy, and a big part of their success could be attributed to their very strong backline. Leading that backline is Aymeric Laporte, whose performance in the five games Spain played helped them achieve a no-loss run. With a 96% passing accuracy, 24 balls recovered and even one goal scored, Laporte’s repertoire in the UEFA Euro 2020 matches helped him make the Summer Stars Team 1 roster.
- Alexander Isak (Sweden, ST) (95 OVR) – Sweden’s performance in the group stages of the UEFA Euro 2020 was nothing short of fantastic, winning two games and drawing one. Despite ending their run midway in a heartbreaking loss against Ukraine in the round of 16, the team’s overall run was nothing to scoff at – and helping them at the helm was the young forward Alexander Isak, who played a total of 324 minutes in all of their games. Isak’s performance has helped him snag a spot on the Summer Stars Team 1 roster.
- Kalvin Phillips (England, CM) (94 OVR) – England’s fantastic run to the semis of Euro 2020 showcase a team that hasn’t been this good in a very long time, with the only nick in their record a scoreless draw against Scotland in the group stages. Midfielder Kalvin Phillips’ performance in all of these matches earned him a spot in the Summer Stars Team 1 roster, boasting an 88% passing accuracy within the 425 minutes that he played, as well as one assist and 13 balls recovered.
- Denzel Dumfries (Netherlands, RWB) (94 OVR) – before their unfortunate loss against the Czech Republic in the round of 16, Netherlands held a perfect record that’s bolstered by amazing players. One of their best standouts is the defender Denzel Dumfries, who played 315 minutes in their four matches. Dumfries also managed to score two goals, giving him a spot in the Summer Stars Team 1 roster.
- Leonardo Spinazzola (Italy, LB) (93 OVR) – another player who contributed greatly to Italy’s successes and their current semi-final standing is the defender Leonardo Spinazzola, who played 379 minutes in four matches. Spinazzola also boasted an 88% passing accuracy with 27 balls recovered, giving him a spot in the Summer Stars Team 1 roster.
- Andreas Christensen (Denmark, CB) (93 OVR) – Denmark’s first match in the UEFA Euro 2020 against Finland was cut short with a shocking incident involving midfielder Christian Eriksen who suffered a cardiac arrest at the 42nd minute mark. After a pause, Denmark ended up losing the match, followed by another loss against Belgium. Despite these defeats, Denmark managed to claw their way back thanks to a win against Russia in the final day of the group stage and against Wales in the round of 16. This journey culminated in another win in the quarterfinal against Czech Republic, and behind these victories is a top-notch performance from centre-back Andreas Christensen, who played 441 minutes in five matches, with 90% passing accuracy, 29 balls recovered and a goal to top it all off. His performance resulted in him earning a spot in the Summer Stars Team 1 roster.
Copa América players
- Lionel Messi (Argentina, RW) (99 OVR) – if UEFA is represented by Ronaldo, then Copa América has Lionel Messi. At this point, it’s another no-brainer that one of the greatest of all time gets his spot at the Summer Stars Team 1 roster, with Messi scoring three goals in Argentina’s four matches.
- Richarilison (Brazil, ST) (96 OVR) – it’s impossible to not have a representative from Brazil for the Summer Stars Team 1 roster, and for this iteration, it’s forward Richarlison who managed to score one goal and one assist in Brazil’s five matches, four of them wins alongside the one draw.
- Claudio Bravo (Chile, GK) (92 OVR) – the current captain and goalkeeper of the Chilean National team is also their representative for the Summer Stars Team 1 roster. Claudio Bravo was integral to tying their games against heavy favorites Argentina and Uruguay.
- Óscar Romero (Paraguay, LM) (91 OVR) – Paraguay’s representative for the Summer Stars Team 1 roster is midfielder Óscar Romero, who played in three of their five matches. Although the team fell in the quarterfinal against Peru, Romero’s performance was notable enough to include him in the roster.
