The Call of Duty League team, Seattle Surge, hired Sam “Fenix” Spencer as their new coach for the upcoming season.
Seattle Surge had a disastrous season last year, considering their roster quality. The Call of Duty League team decided to drop their entire roster before the 2022 season. Seattle Surge are now building their new roster, and the first arrival is Fenix. He will be the coach of the Seattle representatives.
Fenix does not have any Call of Duty League experience. He started his career back in 2018 as an analyst for Virtue Gaming. After getting used to the role, he then joined Nation of Power as a coach. With NoP, his coaching career began. He coached two more teams, J4L Org and The Atlas Lions, before joining Team Singularity.
Fenix worked for the European team for over five months. During his time in Europe, he coached Jed “Detain” Mulcahy, Jamie “Insight” Craven, Luke “Bidz” Biddle, Kian “Keza” Bonsor, and Tobias Juul “CleanX” Jensson. Singularity made it to the Call of Duty World League Championship back in 2019.
Seattle Surge began their 2021 journey with Sam “Octane” Larew, Peirce “Gunless” Hillman, Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson, and Daniel “Loony” Loza. Even though their roster looked stacked, the North American team had to make many changes during the season.
At the end of the season, Seattle Surge dropped their whole roster to build a new one for the upcoming Call of Dury League season. Fenix is the first move that the team have made so far alongside their new GM Brandon “Novus” Hewitt. Fenix is not an experienced coach considering his lack of Call of Duy League experience but he still has a lot to prove.
Seattle Surge will announce their roster in the upcoming days. There are many rumors but nothing is clear yet.
