Evil Geniuses have officially announced through their social media platforms that Christine “potter” Chi will no longer be part of the active Valorant roster. potter will transition from being in the playing five into the Head Coach role at Evil Geniuses, as per the Twitter announcement. Her experience as an on-air analyst should aid her transition into the Head Coach role at Evil Geniuses.
To make room for potter, the current Coach of the Evil Geniuses Valorant squad, Jimmy “LiN” Lin, will be shifted and continue in an assistant coach capacity. Evil Geniuses had earlier become the first organization to field a gender-neutral lineup in Valorant, with potter headlining the roster.
Potter transitioned into Valorant after a storied career as a professional player in Counter Strike 1.6 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, coming second at the Copenhagen Games 2018 Female edition with RES Gaming along with a third-place finish at the Intel Challenge Katowice 2018 under the same banner. Potter switched from competing to become an on-air analyst after her stint with CLG Red.
However, Evil Geniuses failed to pose a challenge to the best Valorant squads in the North American scene since its inception and potter’s individual performance also left a lot to be desired. Evil Geniuses did make changes towards the end of June 2021, with the likes of Claudia “clawdia” Che, Aleksandar “ALEKSANDAR” Hinosoja and Ronan “Osias” Javelona, making way for Daniel “roca” Gustaferri, Brandon “BRANTED” Ballard, and Mike “pho” Panza.
Potter’s switch will open up another spot on the Evil Geniuses roster, with the announcement highlighting that Kelden “Boostio” Pupello will be standing in for the team at the Nerd Street Gamers Summer Championship. The staff will continue the process of trying out players and combinations before they finalize the roster, with the organization aiming at VCT 2022.
Evil Geniuses will be playing their first match without potter in a few hours against Pioneers in the Round of 16 at NSG Summer Championship.
