Controllers in VALORANT are the kinds of agents that allow you to make progress within the map. They all have smokes, but who are they? This is every Controller in VALORANT!
There are currently five Controllers in VALORANT, and if you want to pick one up, we have a brief summary of each in this very article, so you can choose exactly who suits you!
Controllers are designed to block vision and take control of the map through their zoning abilities, and like every Duelist in VALORANT, they are meant to get their team onto a spike site, but in a very different way!

Brimstone

The American Smoker is the easiest Controller that you can pick up, and within your first game you will easily get the hang of him.
His three Sky Smokes a round mean he can cover pretty much every entryway onto a site when defending and attacking at once! They are also the longest-lasting smokes in the game at 19.25 seconds each!
Incendiary is a basic molotov grenade, that does a large amount of AOE damage to enemies standing in it, whilst his Stim Beacon gives everyone in it massive buffs to movement and fire rates.
His ultimate is one of the coolest in the game, and teaches you to play off-site in post-plant situations. Orbital Strike allows Brim to rain hell on his enemies, especially if they are defusing his spike!
Viper

Viper is the second Controller to be released in beta of VALORANT, and she is slightly more complex. Instead of launching smokes, she uses her Toxic Screen wall to block off large areas of the map.
This is really beneficial for her team as she is not limited to blocking off tight areas, like Brimstone or other smokers, but she can prohibit vision of open ground!
Her Poison Cloud is more of a traditional smoke, but alongside her Toxic Screen, they both run off of Fuel – which fills up to 100.
Her version of Brimstone’s Incendiary is her Snake Bite, which she has two charges of! This is really good when she uses her ultimate, Viper’s Pit, which creates a huge cloud of toxic gas, nearsighting and decaying the health of enemies!
All of her abilities use the second part of her passive, Toxin, which decays the health bars of enemies rapidly the longer the spend in your abilities!
Omen

Our final Controller released in the Beta of VALORANT takes us up to three, and this one is Omen! The Spectre himself has a great backstory, which is really incorporated into his gameplay.
He has two smokes as his signature ability; Dark Cover. Omen can throw the smokes to any location at any height, allowing him to phase them through walls and across the map!
He can also use his Paranoia, which fires a blinding orb, taking away both visual and audible senses of any enemies hit!
These two abilities are phenomenal on tighter maps where they pass through walls that other Controllers would be unable to guard.
His Shrouded Step is a short teleport, which can get Omen out of tight spots, and is a mini version of his ultimate ability, From The Shadows.
From The Shadows is a global teleport to anywhere on the map as Omen, meaning rotating is easy! Our tip is to use your ultimate onto a dropped spike if you are attacking, and you will pick it up, even if you are stopped!
Astra

The Cosmic guardian could well be on the list of every Sentinel in VALORANT with how good she is at defending spike sites with her stars.
She is the most complicated on this list, and requires a lot of practice. Using her ultimate, Astral Form takes you into another realm, where you can place your four stars anywhere on the map.
These are then used to activate her Gravity Well to pull enemies into the middle of a small AOE circle, her Nova Pulse, to concuss enemies in the same sized area, and her Nebula, which can be activated twice to smoke off an area!
She is designed around setting up on a site, much like Killjoy or Cypher, then rotating by picking up her stars if need be.
Her actual ultimate, Cosmic Divide, allows her to place a global wall across the map in a place of her choosing, which cannot be shot through and cannot be heard through either. This lasts for 21 seconds, and is one of the best ways to prevent a push!
Harbor

Our final and newest Controller in VALORANT is the Indian maestro, Harbor. He is all about changing the tide of the battle with his waves and water abilities!
His Cascade is a wave of water, which can be thrown forward, slowing enemies and blocking vision. This can be used twice a round!
Cove is his other regular ability, which creates a dome of safety that cannot be shot through unless destroyed. This lasts for 15 seconds and has 500hp, so it is very durable! We recommend using this to safely defuse the spike when defending!
High Tide is his signature ability, which is another wall of water, but this time acting like Viper’s Toxic Screen, going sideways to block off vision perpendicular to your character. Harbor can also change the direction of this to perfectly fit the angle!
His ultimate is Reckoning, it creates a huge AOE concussion field which targets enemy players, for nine seconds, concussing any enemies hit for two seconds!
