After two close maps, North American representative Envy took over Brazil’s first seed Vivo Keyd in the first match of Group B. Despite putting in an insane performance during the game with 1.38 K/D, Vivo’s star Olavo “heat” Marcelo efforts were not enough. Envy closed the series with a 2-0.
We headed out to Icebox as the first map of the series, picked by Vivo Keyd. The Brazilian representative was in their groove from the beginning, making the scoreboard 7-1 in their favor. Vivo were well-aware of what Envy were going to do, denying every aggressive play of their opponents and finding all the gaps around the map.
However, Envy’s savior was there to save the ship once more. Austin “crashies” Roberts came up with a huge eco round ACE in the ninth round, creating a turning point for his team.
After closing out the first half 8-4 behind, Envy managed to adapt their strategies to the game. The North American team slowed the game down, showed patience, and found the opening kills they needed. With Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker coming online, Envy took the game to overtime, winning the game with a 15-13 by turning more cold-blooded at the end of the game.
Envy stepped on Bind to get the prize in the second map of the series. Unlike the previous game, the NA roster had a quick start, scoring the game 6-0 by benefiting the spaces Vivo Keyd left. A quick recovery from the Brazilian team didn’t take too long; they put Heat in front and started to fight for early control across the map, which gave them a come-back opportunity. The halftime score was 7-5 in favor of Envy.
The second half featured every taste of Valorant. Vivo Keyd were so close to catching their opponents with fast executes and Heat’s entry frags, but they made many mistakes in the post-plan scenarios. Envy managed to stay calm at the end of the game, denying the weak attacks of Vivo and winning the game with a 13-9 scoreline.
Envy will play their next match with the winner of KRÜ Esports – ZETA DIVISION, while Keyd Stars will face the losing team of the same matchup.
