After beating Sentinels in the quarterfinals, Team Envy found themselves another win in the Masters Berlin semifinals against 100 Thieves.
Team Envy secured a well-deserved win against Sentinels in the quarterfinals. On the other side, 100 Thieves won a nail-biting series against the European representatives, Acend. North America’s two representatives competed against each other to play against Gambit Esports in the Masters Berlin Finals. Team Envy swept their opponent in style and became the second finalist.
Haven
100 Thieves outplayed Team Envy in the opening round of the series. Even though Team Envy’s Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker secured four kills, 100 Thieves were the winning side of the first round. Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella made it look easy in the second round by getting four kills, guaranteeing the round for his team. However, yay was enjoying his time on Jett. The North American player got 20 kills in 11 rounds to carry his team on his shoulders. His extra plays and gunfights were on point. Team Envy won the opening pistol round of the second half to secure themselves the map-point. Envy reached the 13-round point with confidence and got the lead in the series, 1-0.
Ascent
Even though facing a tough loss in the first map, 100 Thieves came back stronger and won the first two rounds. However, Team Envy managed to turn things around and got ahead in the early stages. Unlike the first game, 100 Thieves answered their opponent’s moves until a point but Envy made the difference by using their strong sides. Their main focus was the A site and 100 Thieves could not find a way to defend the site. Team Envy used 100 Thieves’ economy shortage to reach the 12-round point. The North American representatives closed out the game in 21 rounds.
The final game will be played tomorrow, September 19. The CIS representatives Gambit Esports and North American team Envy will battle each other to become the Masters Berlin champion.
