Team Envy’s original roster member, kaboose, retires from professional Valorant.
kaboose: another CS:GO exile
Team Envy have opted to part ways with Jake “kaboose” McDonald. A former professional CS:GO player, he had been a member of Team Envy’s Valorant squad since its inception.
Throughout his six-year Counter-Strike career, kaboose struggled to make it into the upper echelons of the highly competitive and congested CS scene. However, he, like many other CS players, made a switch to Valorant once the game was announced.
kaboose’s journey in professional Valorant
The American and his fellow ex-CS:GO professionals quickly jumped at the opportunity that Valorant presented. Under the “together we are terrific” team name, he and his teammates won four tournaments, placing second twice and fourth once. The impressive performances by kaboose and his teammates earned them a spot in Team Envy.
His early successes did not translate onto the big stage. The organization felt that his 217 Average Combat Score and 1.04 rating left more desired in an aggressive duelist role.
Team Envy had been trialing replacements for kaboose since June and finally found their fit in FaZe Clan’s Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen, who has joined the team on loan. Team Envy and kaboose officially parted ways on July 14.
The player is yet to reveal his plans regarding the future. He hasn’t made any official statement since his tweet that announced his departure from Team Envy and him stepping down from professional Valorant for a while.
