With EDward Gaming taking down FunPlus Phoenix with a score of 3-1, the first round of this split’s LPL playoffs has come to an end.
After countless very successful splits in LPL, EDward Gaming‘s 2022 Spring performance was questionable. EDG ended the regular season with ten wins and six losses at the seventh spot and matched FunPlus Phoenix in the first round of the playoffs. In the battle of the giants, EDG closed out the series in four games, with a score of 3-1 to advance to the second round in the bracket.
EDward Gaming LPL 2022 Spring Split Roster
Last year, EDG fans witnessed the peak of the franchise history as the team lifted the Worlds 2021 trophy. After winning LPL 2021 Summer Playoffs, securing a 3-1 win over FunPlus Phoenix again, EDG made it to the Worlds stage and demolished their opponents one by one. Luckily, the board managed to keep the roster together but the players have underperformed during Spring Split as they lost six games in the regular season. However, they still managed to qualify for the playoffs and won the first-round game against FunPlus Phoenix.
After losing the opening game, FPX bounced back in the second game to tie the series. EDG shifted gear after the second game and won the last two games mainly thanks to Scout and Flandre. Besides, EDward Gaming have also won the regular-season game against FPX so the result was expected.
EDward Gaming’s next opponent is Weibo Gaming. Weibo Gaming had magnificent performances throughout the split. They even secured the leading spot for a while after falling back to the fourth seed. It will be a tough matchup as both teams look really strong on paper.
