The South Korean League of Legends team, DRX, announced that they have parted ways with their coach Kim “cvMax” Dae-ho.
After getting unsuccessful results in LCK (Korean League of Legends League), DRX decided to drop their roster and continue with young players. The team selected cvMax as the mentor and the leader of their young squad. Today, DRX announced that they parted ways with the experienced League of Legends coach.
cvMax started his professional League of Legends career as a top laner, back in 2014. After playing the game professionally for a year, he stepped down and retired. He announced his return to the professional stage in 2017, as a coach for Griffin.
Griffin were one of the strongest teams in South Korea’s lower league, CK. The team ended their CK run with a trophy and guaranteed themselves a spot in LCK after beating MVP in the promotion tournament. With cvMax behind the wheel, their talented roster kept their eyes on the trophy. However, Griffin never won the LCK trophy.
cvMax-Griffin Case
After parting ways with Griffin, cvMax was accused by his former teammates. Even though these accusations, the South Korean coach joined DRX but received a ban for a year. DRX made it to the Worlds stage in 2020 but decided to drop their roster and sign young prospects. cvMax tried his best to train these young players but in the end, DRX ended their LCK 2021 Summer Split run without making it to the playoffs.
As of today, cvMax will not be the head coach of DRX. There is still so much time ahead of us before the new season start. The experienced coach may find himself a new home in this process. DRX are not competing in Worlds this year, they also have a lot of time to discuss and sign a new head coach.
