The finals weekend of the second major of the DOTA 2 pro circuit and season has arrived, with 12 teams ready to compete for the $200,000 first place prize. With the two weeks of qualifiers and eliminations done, the finals are set to be full of diverse competition.
Since its start on June 2nd, the DOTA 2 WePlay AniMajor has already seen a ton of competitive action. The major is set to be one of the last major DOTA 2 competitions before the world-wide DOTA: The International tournament scheduled for August of this year. The WePlay AniMajor has been an online DOTA 2 competition featuring teams from China, Philippines, Russia, Peru, Sweden, and many other parts of the world.
Who’s in it?
With 12 different teams qualified for the playoffs this weekend, a few rounds of the tournament’s final bracket have already started. The $500,000 prize pool for the competition has also been coupled with 2700 circuit points, adding stakes for the coming global competition coming later in the year. All qualified teams for the bracket include: Team Aster, Virtus Pro, Team Nigma, Alliance, PSG.LGD, Quincy Crew, NoPing e-sports, Vici Gaming, Team Spirit, TNC Predator, and Evil Geniuses. A number of top teams have also already been eliminated from the competition’s past weeks of qualifiers, including Team Liquid, beastcoast, and Invictus Gaming.
The WePlay Animajor finals bracket is set to be double elimination and best of three until the grand finals of the event, giving teams plenty of comeback potential. The event is being streamed by WePlay’s official Twitch and Youtube channels, with matches already going underway from the beginning of the day. T1 esports and PSG.LGD are already making advancements to the next round of the winner’s bracket. The best of five grand finals set of the event will be streamed on Sunday, June 13th and will be streamed on the official WePlay channels.
