A brand-new name enters the Southeast Asian DPC region. Can the Talon Esports Dota 2 roster make a mark for themselves, especially with a renowned captain at the helm?
Just a few days ago, the deadline for roster lock-ins for Dota 2’s next DPC season has ended, bringing with it a surprising number of roster moves and changes that is sure to shake up the game at the highest competitive level. Today, we’ll be taking a look at Talon Esports, whose first crack at professional Dota 2 features some SEA standouts, all the while helmed by one of the game’s most widely-known captains.
Talon Esports Dota 2 roster
- Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte (position 1)
- Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman (mid-laner)
- Damien “kpii” Chok (off-laner)
- Brizio “Hyde” Adi Putra Budiana (soft support)
- Tal “Fly” Aizik (hard support)
At a glance
While Fly leaving Evil Geniuses may have closed a few doors, it also opened a brand-new one. The veteran captain now has a chance to prove himself in a brand-new region, one that’s arguably more competitive than what North America had to offer. Taking the role of carry is Gabbi, whose previous tenure at TNC Predator made him renowned as one of the best hard carries in the region. Mikoto and Hyde, made their mark in BOOM Esports, an Indonesian organization that sits at the Upper Division of SEA Dota 2. kpii, a legend of the SEA scene, takes the off-laner role after his stint with Team SMG.
Starting from scratch
Although the team boasts strong players, building a team from scratch has Talon Esports starting from the SEA DPC’s lower division. It will be interesting to see how far this roster will make it in this division, and if Fly and company can somehow promote themselves in the Upper one to face the true competition. Whatever your thoughts are, they have quite the fight ahead.
