Studio Interlude has announced that its debut game, Devil’s Liminal, will officially leave Early Access and launch in full on September 1, 2026.
The horror visual novel combines Azorean folklore, demonic mythology, queer romance, and real-world horror in a story set in a small Arizona town. Inspired by Azorean folklore and Goethe’s Faust, the game explores themes of poverty, violence, cultural heritage, and generational trauma through a supernatural story spanning 500 years.
A Summer Filled With Supernatural Horror
Devil’s Liminal follows Margo Silva, a young woman who has spent years trying to escape the trailer park in Arizona where she grew up. With college approaching, Margo expects to spend a quiet summer working before beginning the next chapter of her life.
That plan quickly falls apart when a hungry ghost begins appearing in her dreams. At the same time, Margo discovers that a demon has laid claim to her soul.
Two mysterious girls soon arrive in town, with both offering to help Margo while hiding their own motives and secrets. As she attempts to uncover the truth, Margo must navigate two developing romances while confronting the supernatural forces surrounding her.
Her journey takes her through disturbing dreams, mysterious rituals, grave robberies in the desert, and revelations about a violent legacy that reaches back centuries. The choices she makes throughout the story ultimately determine whether she can escape the forces pursuing her and what fate awaits her.
Choices Shape Margo’s Story
Players take control of Margo and influence the events around her as the story gradually builds toward its horror-filled conclusion.
With more than 300 choices, approximately 238,000 words, five endings, and multiple routes, each playthrough can reveal new details about Margo’s relationships, personal history, and the events that eventually connect her to the demon claiming her soul.
The game also features a sapphic romance system, allowing players to pursue relationships with Bec and Clara. A secret route offers another potential romance connected to the game’s centuries-old supernatural history.
