The surreal psychological horror adventure heads to Seattle following Best Visuals recognition at Gamescom.
Independent developer Error Thing and publisher PARCO GAMES have announced that DEPERSON, a hand-drawn psychological horror adventure, will be featured at The MIX Fall Showcase in Seattle.
The appearance follows a strong run of festival recognition for the game. DEPERSON was recently named a finalist for Best Visuals at the Gamescom Awards 2026 and also received a nomination for Excellence in Art at the Busan Indie Connect Festival 2026.
These nominations recognize the game’s distinctive hand-drawn art style and surreal approach to psychological horror.
A Surreal Story About Identity and Memory
DEPERSON follows Aaron, a man who wakes up in the dystopian nation of Indrija with no memory of who he is. The country is dominated by surveillance and fear, and as Aaron searches for answers about his past, the boundaries between reality and perception begin to break down.
Players will explore their surroundings, solve environmental puzzles and use the unique abilities of different characters to progress. Decisions made throughout the story can influence Aaron’s development and the people around him, leading to different outcomes.
The game combines elements of classic point-and-click adventures with platforming mechanics and environmental challenges. Its story explores themes including identity, trauma, oppression, memory and psychological conflict.
