For those who want to have a solo experience for a while, Deceive League of Legends is a method to appear offline.
Deceive League of Legends: What is it
Deceive is a program available through GitHub.
Without any loss of functionality, players can choose to set their status to “Offline.”
As it currently stands, players can only set their status as “Online” or “Away” while in-game or in the client.
However, there are situations where someone might want to appear offline to their Friends list while playing.
For example, sometimes a player might want to just do some quick casual play by themselves without having to decline invitations to play from their friends.
Deceive adds an icon to the player’s notification tray that lets them manage their online presence. They can still send messages, queue up, or use the in-game chat function.
How to appear offline in Riot games
For those wanting to appear offline, they should go to GitHub and download the latest version of Deceive.
The player can then launch Deceive. The first time they open the program, they will need to choose which game to launch. They can also choose to remember that setting so they don’t need to do it every time.
Then, they can use the Deceive icon in their notifications tray to choose if they’ll appear Online, Offline, or Mobile.
Further, players can also use the Deceive tray icon to launch a different game with the Deceive functionality.
Additionally, players can launch Deceive with “lol”, “lor”, or “valorant” as a command-line argument to automatically launch one of those games.
Players will still be able to chat in lobbies, champion/agent select, and messages without issue. Deceive only filters their “global presence” and doesn’t alter any functions.
The only restriction will be that while the Deceive user can invite whomever they want, their friends won’t be able to invite them. This is true even if they manually search for the Deceive user’s name.
For anyone worrying if there are any repercussions, Riot Games currently permits Deceive. Although this can change at any moment, as of writing Riot Games has confirmed that it will not ban or punish Deceive users.
