The Deadlock June 17 Update delivers one of the most comprehensive reworks to date, targeting map design, objective mechanics, and character balance.
With a mix of visual upgrades and core gameplay adjustments, this patch aims to improve flow, clarity, and competitive depth.
Mid Lane and Boss Area Overhaul
The central map section between Guardians has received a full layout redesign. Deadlock’s once-cluttered mid lane has been streamlined by removing the Arch Monument, rope access points to the Mid Boss, and various low-cover elements like barrels and kiosks.
These removals clear sightlines and allow for better movement during fights.

In place of the old bridge is a wider version, offering more room for engagements. The nearby veil areas were moved and now connect directly to the Mid Boss room.
Wall cover was extended closer to the new bridge, providing more tactical options without overcrowding the space.
The Mid Boss zone itself now features early stages of a sewer theme. Rope shafts now link to upper levels, and their entrances have been raised, enabling cleaner vertical transitions.
New sloped terrain has been added beside the stairs leading from the pit, improving traversal during tight skirmishes. Underground breakables have also been reworked to reduce clutter and make interactions more consistent.
Key Objective and Bounty System Adjustments
A central part of the Deadlock June 17 Update is a rework of the bounty system tied to Guardians, Walkers, and hero kills. The flex slot now supports three Guardians or three Walkers instead of two, giving teams more freedom in comp selection.
Bounties are now split in a way that rewards teamwork. Players near an enemy Guardian or Walker when it dies, and who contributed damage within the last 20 seconds, receive 40% of the bounty.
The remaining 60% is distributed evenly among all players on the team. This discourages last-hit stealing and rewards group effort.

Hero kill bounties have been scaled more aggressively, from 300 at the start of the match up to 2000 by the 40-minute mark. These kills no longer spawn soul orbs; instead, the souls are directly awarded to the killer and assisting players.
The same applies to objective destructions. It streamlines the reward system and makes fights more satisfying.
Trooper damage to Walkers has been reduced, and while base bounty for Troopers is slightly lower, their value now increases more per minute. This scaling change makes late-game troop waves more impactful.
Urn and Soul Orb Mechanic Revisions after Deadlock Update
To tighten the pace of play, several Urn timers were reduced. Players holding an Urn will now take damage after 45 seconds, instead of the previous 90. Urns return to their home point after 45 seconds of inactivity, and they only wait 12 seconds to be picked up, down from 20. The soul orb auto-claim range has been reduced from 40 to 35 meters, requiring players to engage more actively.
Boons, Power Scaling, and Passive Tweaks
Boon progression is now consistent: each level gives one stat bonus and one ability point. While the total ability points available have dropped slightly, the number of stat levels has increased. The overall power level remains balanced due to rescaled values.

Multiple passive items and modifiers were adjusted. Opening Rounds no longer affect objectives. Regeneration effects were toned down across the board.
Defensive mods like Fortitude and Resilience variants now have tighter activation thresholds or longer cooldowns. Radiant Regeneration’s healing numbers are down, but it now scales with Boons, making builds more influential.
Hero Balance and Ability Updates
The Deadlock June 17 Update also introduces sweeping changes to many heroes.
- Calico’s Ava now requires a melee input to break boxes. Her health and damage outputs have been slightly reduced to curb early aggression.
- Kelvin’s Arctic Beam cooldown and range were trimmed.
- Lady Geist, Viscous, and Wraith all saw reductions to damage output, with some abilities receiving adjusted scaling or range to maintain utility.
- Warden and Wraith in particular saw key changes to their burst potential and survivability. Warden’s Last Stand no longer benefits from cooldown resets when interrupted.
- Wraith’s signature abilities like Card Trick and Full Auto now do less damage but have added utility or better spirit scaling to compensate.
Closing Thoughts about Deadlock June 17 Update
The Deadlock June 17 Update enhances both the strategic and mechanical aspects of the game. From a reworked mid lane to smarter bounty sharing and tightened hero balance, this patch offers players a more refined and competitive experience.
