DAMWON KIA have reached the semifinals after sweeping MAD Lions with a score of 3-0 in Worlds 2021 quarterfinals.
DAMWON KIA were the champions of the Korean League of Legends competition before coming to Worlds 2021. The team showed their dominance against other regions from the very start. Today, DAMWON completed a 3-0 sweep against MAD Lions to reach the semifinals in Worlds 2021. DAMWON will compete against another Korean team, T1.
DAMWON KIA won the league with dominance before and they are the latest champions of the Worlds tournament. They were considered as the favorite once again by many people and nothing surprising happened on their side during the group stage. DAMWON KIA reached the quarterfinal stage and managed to sweep their opponent MAD Lions in style.
MAD Lions came to the tournament as the champion of LEC. European fans had hope inside considering MAD’s unexpectedly good performances. Even though they came on top of LNG Esports and Team Liquid in the group stage, MAD couldn’t pull a rabbit out of the hat in the quarterfinals.
DWG demolished their opponent in the opening game of the series. Their jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu dominated the series with his clutch Lee Sin performance. He is considered one of the best junglers in the world right now and he proved his title with his performances. After a tough loss, MAD Lions showed a better performance in the second game but still failed to destroy their rivals’ Nexus. The last game of the series was a complete fiesta as both teams tried different things. In the end, DAMWON KIA swept MAD Lions with a score of 3-0 to close out the series in style.
DAMWON will face T1 in the semifinals stage. The latest semifinalist will be clear tomorrow, after Cloud9-Gen.G game. The winner of that series will face EDward Gaming.
