It’s time to swap loses for wins with my CS2 Reload Update Guide.
Valve changed the way reloading works in Counter Strike 2 and how you play round to round.
But how does this affect gameplay and what new ways can you gain the advantage?
CS2 Reload Update Guide
Firstly, no they did not turn the game into Ready or Not. But they have drastically shifted the reloading mechanic into a more tactical direction.

This CS2 Reload Update Guide aims to explain what has changed and how we can use it to win matches. In summary quickly you got to stop pressing the R button so much!
Because instead of taking ammo from your bullet pool and adding it up to maximum clip size we instead swap out for full magazines.
Imagine if you real the real world for a second and how guns work IRL. If you fire 5 out of 30 rounds from an AK and reload to another mag you do not end up with just 5 less bullets. Now in the game you lose all the bullets in that magazine.

Also, when you reload a magazine, it is thrown to the ground and players can hear/ see. Although this does not affect shotguns as much as they operate the same as before. Reloading on shell at a time. But now for more expensive guns you only get 2 to three magazines to reload with.
This CS2 Reload Update forces players to think more strategically about their bullet usage. Please do not spray and pray as much as the chances of running out of ammo are very likely. Only reload when you are fully out or have not enough bullets for the gun to kill with.

Meaning if you have 3 bullets say in a M4AS1 reload! I know you need really just two for headshots but be realistic you are not hitting those!
Changing Mag
Also keep in mind that this CS2 Reload Update benefits cheaper guns. Stuff like the Galil and Famas have more magazines and bullets to use up than their expensive AK and M4 counter parts.
If you are in an exchange against someone using an AK 47 has 90 bullets over 4 clips. Meanwhile a Famas has 100 bullets over 4 clips. Meaning if you hear that guy reload 3 times he is running out and will have to pistol or gun swap.

Also, this CS2 Reload Update is kind of fun as it forces players to swap guns more at end of rounds. Say you are in a drawn-out exchange keep tab of your magazines left and possibly swap for a dropped rifle.
A gamble I know but swapping to an M4 with 2 magazines left gives you a lot more pressure to deal out than the guy with no mags left! Meanwhile you can bait out players with magazine swaps if you get the timing just right.
During the animation midway through swap to your secondary and you will drop a magazine in game but not registered as a full reload. You keep the bullets but the AWPer scoping in thinks you just swapped magazines and are running low.
Overall, just remember that if you are running low on magazines the enemy most likely is as well. But for safe measure read up on the guns and their adjusted clip sizes to stay aware.
