Bunnyhopping is one thing, but can you pull off a CS2 Jumpthrow?
Many players are unaware of this mechanic and how to use it in CS2.
Here is how it works and how to bind it…
CS2 Jumpthrow Mechanics
Jump-throwing is a crucial mechanic that dates back to CS:GO and CS:Source. Although it was not actively demonstrated by the game, players found this one out for themselves.

Essentially, to reach far-away grenade spots, the player must time a running jump as they throw their grenade. This will extend the range of the nade, thanks to the physics engine. There were many grenade spots in CSGO that required a jumpthrow.
But players found it hard to consistently hit their lineups without the help of a jump throw bind. This quick keybind made it easier to both jump and throw at the same time, allowing for more frequent successful long throws.
In CS:GO, there was a handy bind option to allow players to do this. However, after the release of CS2, players quickly found out there was no such binding in the game.
But we have some solutions for this problem ourselves.
How to Make CS2 Jumpthrow Bind
Firstly, we can add a binding via the configfile by following these steps:
- Find the CS:GO config folder in your game files. This is usually found here: \\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg\
- Copy any other config file, paste it into the same folder, and rename it jumpthrow
- In the config doc, delete all the existing text, and replace it with this below:
+jump
-attack
-attack2
-jump
Now, save that file and open CS2 via steam. Open the dev console (make sure you have it turned on in settings), and bind this executable to your prefferd key.

We like to use bind q “exec jumpthrow” ourselves.
In CS:GO, you have the option to create ‘alias’ binds, allowing you to execute two commands with a single key press. While alias commands are also available in CS2, they are only effective for the duration of the current game session, requiring you to re-add them each time.
Setting up the config as described earlier is a simpler and more permanent solution or we could wait for Valve to add the option at a later date.
Although, we could just manually do our jumpthrows if we feel up to the task! Just hit the throw at the peak of the jump every time, very easy!
