The fractured relationship between Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United had already looked close to breaking point prior to his controversial interview with Piers Morgan, with the x5 time Ballon d’Or winner slating everyone from the owners and manager to the catering team at Old Trafford. An exit from the club looks like the only option left on the cards for United, but could Ronaldo’s actions end up costing him in the virtual world of Fifa 23? Check out Gamelevate as we run you through how Cristiano Ronaldo could get REMOVED from Ultimate Team.

What Has Ronaldo Done?
To understand where all this drama has come from, we have to go back to the 2022 summer. With Man United failing to qualify for the Champions League, Ronaldo made his intentions clear that he wanted to move on from the club. When a move failed to materialise for the Portuguese talisman, he committed himself to the club, but soon found himself out of manager Erik ten Hag’s starting eleven.
Tension threatened to come between player and manager over the next three months, eventually culminating in Ronaldo refusing to come off the bench during a Premier League match against Tottenham, and leaving the stadium mid-match for the second time in the season.
The Portuguese striker, who registered his 700th goal for Man United this season, has since gripped the football world with a shocking interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV where he claimed he didn’t respect ten Hag, and that forces around the club wanted him out.
What Could This Mean For Ronaldo In Fifa 23?
If Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford already looked doubtful, it’s been absolutely blown to bits on the back of this interview. The player some consider to be the greatest player of all time is now with Portugal for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and it remains to be seen whether he is able to orchestrate a move in the upcoming January transfer window, or whether Man United will just terminate his contract.
If United do terminate his contract, that would leave the 37-year-old without a club in Fifa’s latest squad updates. This could make for a cheeky signing in Career Mode but would see Ronaldo removed from Fifa 23 Ultimate Team.
Ronaldo’s age and poor goalscoring return this season could certainly complicate a January move, which could (potentially) start to signal the end for one of the all-time greats. A sad case, but one that does feel incredibly self-inflicted.
